With the 2011 season getting closer, and fantasy football getting started, it's time to take a look at some of the Miami Dolphins players and the impact they will have on the fantasy world this season.

Yahoo! Sports fantasy football provides fans with top-notch information, resources, and expert advice.  One of their best publications is their 2011 Yahoo! NFL Draft Kit.  With a break down of every major player in the NFL, it ranks the players by position, and gives a blurb about all of the players you may want to draft.

So, without further ado, here's a preview of some of the Miami Dolphins players for this year:

Chad Henne, QB - Yahoo! ranks him the 28th best QB option out there.  I can't exactly argue against that low ranking.  In their writeup, Yahoo! states, "Playing time is the first and foremost consideration when looking at any player." With Henne, there's no guarantee of his playing time.  But, as Yahoo! points out, "A good group of wideouts, led by Brandon Marshall, makes Henne's situation not-terrible..."

     Projected Stats:

Passing Yards Touchdowns Interceptions Fumbles Lost Fantasy Points
3,495 17 19.6 2.8 190.07

Daniel Thomas, RB - Yahoo! rankings put Thomas at the #19 position.  They write, "Thomas is a tough-running power back in the mold of a younger Larry Johnson, and the Dolphins have one of the better offensive lines in the league." The rookie will be given every opportunity to prove he has what it takes to be a feature back in the NFL.

Reggie Bush, RB - Written before the trade that send Bush to Miami, the Yahoo! report doesn't list him in their Top 50 running back options for 2011.  I agree with that, but also expect to see Bush get used a lot out of the backfield in Miami.  He may not be the feature back, but in an offensive craving speed and explosiveness, Bush provides both.

Brandon Marshall, WR - Yahoo! doesn't pull any punches on their 2010 review of Marshall, stating "Marshall's move to Miami from Denver was an unmitigated bust." However, they do rank him as the 12th best WR option for 2011.  Look for Marshall to rebound after last year, especially as he gets treatment for his BPD, as was disclosed earlier this week.

Davone Bess, WR - Miami's slot wide receiver ranks as the 70th best wide out in Yahoo!'s rankings.  Bess should continue to provide multiple catch days, and solid, if not spectacular, numbers as a #3 or #4 wide out in fantasy this year.

     Projected Stats:

Anthony Fasano, TE - The Dolphins tight end position is still in flux, and Yahoo!'s rankings reflect that, as no Dolphin TE lands in the top 25 in the league.  However, if Fasano can return to his 2009 form, his fantasy value could rebound as well.

     Projected Stats:

Charles Clay, FB/TE - Clay could prove to be a great sleeper pick late in a fantasy draft.  As the Dolphins expand his role in the offense, Clay very quickly could become a favorite target for Henne.

Dan Carpenter, K - The only Dolphin player to crack the Top 10 in his potion's Yahoo! ranking, Carpenter comes in as the #10 kicker. After a year in which Carpenter led the league in missed field goals, Yahoo! points out, "...he's forced to try several long tries, which hurt his field goal percentage..." The continue, "...he hit all 14 of his field goals within 40 yards, and still finished in the top-10 in scoring overall."

Dolphins, D/ST - Yahoo! rankings put the Miami D as the middle of the pack team, with a ranking of 16.  But, as they point out, "their poor showing in defensive touchdowns (just one) and forced fumbles (11) really hurt their [2010] fantasy numbers." As the Dolphins D turns into an elite squad this season, look for this ranking to improve as well.
