Phinsider Week 8 NFL Power Rankings

The Phinsider Week 8 NFL Power Rankings are complete, and as usual, Green Bay still sits atop the chart.

Meanwhile, the largest jump of the week belongs to Kansas City, which rose 6 spots, from 21st to 15th.  One spot lower, San Diego finds itself as they plummet from 9th to 16th.

Division wise, the only change was the AFC East moving up a spot to third, while the NFC South slid down one to fourth.

Pack defense has settled in after shaky start. Offense is now healthy and should be even better in November. (kmb)

Frank Gore is a legitimate MVP candidate. (Matty)

Steelers

Catching fire at the right time, and the Steelers' D absolutely bullied Tom Brady and the Pats' offense last Sunday. More consistency is need on offense, but Roethlisberger is starting to convert more and more third downs.  (kmb)

Patriots

No longer look like the best team in the AFC after being beat down by the Steelers. (TCP)

Lions

Nothing like getting well on Tim Tebow and the Broncos. Lions' D reclaimed its swagger last Sunday. Offensive health will be key during November schedule. (kmb)

Ravens

Really should've lost to the Cardinals, but give Baltimore credit for hanging on at home. Joe Flacco has regressed, however, and the Ravens can't rely on Ray Rice this much, can they? (kmb)

Hold a two game lead in their division but come up against a not so happy Pats team looking to bounce back this week. (TCP)

11

13

Bears

Lost amidst questionable coaching and front office decisions is the fact that Jay Cutler is playing the best football of his career. (kmb)

12

14

Bengals

13

14

12

11

No magic formula for winning in the Queen City; the Bengals are just a quality roster putting it together on both sides of the ball. The Dalton/Green connection is starting to look scary. (kmb)

Raiders

Raiders hoping the bye week gave Carson Palmer the time he needs to settle in and get back into the swing of things.  (Matty)

Come off the bye week and face Indianapolis - in other words, two bye weeks. (Mosul)

Chiefs

This has been an impressive turnaround for KC, even if they've been aided by miscues from their opponents. (Matty)

It continues to amaze me that Norv Turner still has a job considering he keeps wasting these talented SD teams year after year. (Matty)

Face the Bills in a must win game if they want to still contend for the division.  (TCP)

Gets to be the team facing New Orleans after the Saints' embarassing loss to St. Louis. Lucky them. (Mosul)

19

20

Eagles

18

19

16

18

Finally looked like a team stacked with talent against a below average Cowboys team. Have more of a challenge this week against a better team in the Bears. (TCP)

20

19

Titans

20

20

20

19

Matt Hasselbeck may have been the best move this franchise could have made. (Mosul)

21

17

Cowboys

21

21

21

21

After a drubbing at the hands of his fathers former team the gloss seems to be missing from Rob's revamped defense. Luckily for them they play Seattle this week. (TCP)

22

22

Redskins

24

24

24

22

Just another team that is floundering without a quality QB behind center.  (TCP)

23

24

Browns

25

25

22

23

Cleveland will need to figure out if Colt McCoy is their guy sometime within the next two months. A receiver or three wouldn't hurt the offense's cause, either. (kmb)

24

28

Vikings

23

23

23

26

The Vikes' offense still looks sloppy, but Christian Ponder should be a very good player for a number of years. Not so much of a reach after all, eh? (kmb)

25

23

Panthers

22

22

26

27

Carolina needs to start winning to end the Cam Newton or Andy Dalton rookie of the year debate. (Mosul)

26

25

Jaguars

27

26

25

28

Blaine Gabbert went 10-for-30 for 97 yards last week.  Thank goodness for the bye. (Mosul)

27

26

Broncos

26

27

28

25

Back to earth for Tim Tebow. Wait? Isn't that a sign of the rapture? (Matty)

28

27

Seahawks

29

30

27

24

One of the worst offenses in the league will get it's makeover this offseason, starting with a rookie QB. (Matty)

29

30

Rams

28

28

29

29

Impressive win last week by AJ Feeley led Rams over the Saints. If Steven Jackson can stay healthy, this team will win a few games this year. (Matty)

30

29

Cardinals

30

29

30

30

An epic collapse by Arizona last week, squandering a 24-3 lead. You have to assume Ken Whisenhunt's job is now very much at risk. (Matty)

31

31

Dolphins

31

31

32

31

Just good enough to loose in the 4th for the second week in a row. Hey at least we are better then the Colts, right? (TCP)

32

32

Colts

32

32

31

32

Now there's talk of trading - or even releasing - Peyton Manning when they get Andrew Luck. (Mosul)
