The Phinsider Week 4 Power Rankings

Week 4 - Green Bay still #1.
Week 4 - Green Bay still #1.

Another week, another top spot for Green Bay.  It's amazing how much better than just about the rest of the league they are.

Elsewhere, the trend of good teams being bad and bad teams being good continues.  Before the season, everyone was jumping on the Detroit darkhorse bandwagon.  Did anyone see them as a team worthy of receiving a second place vote in Week 4, and sliding in as the fourth best team in the league?

Meanwhile, Atlanta should be challenging New Orleans for the division title, all while holding off Tampa Bay.  But, someone forgot to tell them this.  They jumped out to an early lead in Seattle, but then had to hold on to squeak by with the two point win.  The team just looks out of sorts right now.

This week's largest jump belongs to Tennessee, who rose seven spots from 17 to break the top 10.

The furthest fall was Dallas, who fell five spots from 13 down to 18.

There's an announcement this week, as well.  Starting with next week's Power Rankings, we will have a guest ranking the teams as well.  Each week, I will randomly choose someone from the comments made on the Power Rankings post.  Whomever it is, I will then email and let them know they have been selected.  All they have to do, then, is send me an email ranking all 32 teams.  Simple right?

As the bye weeks start this weekend, it will be interesting to see what happens when a team doesn't play.  Will they move up or down, based on what everyone else is doing?

Make the jump to see the full rankings, and the comments from our contributors.

Green Bay's offense is absolutely on fire right now.  The road to the NFC crown goes through Lambeau. (kmb8488)

The Lions have just dominated the second half the last two weeks.  Ford Field will be an outrageously hostile environment when the Bears come to town Monday night. (kmb8488)

Baltimore Ravens

Defense picked up the slack Sunday against the Jets. Consitency on offense is still needed, though, as Joe Flacco's completion percentage was horrid in Week 4. (kmb8488)

The fact that this team isn't playing up to their talent level and is still 3-1 is a good sign, especially for a team notorious for starting slow. (Matty I)

Defense got shredded against NE. But they aren't going to face Tom Brady every week. (Matty I)

San Francisco 49ers

An Alex Smith led team is just one bad collapse against the Cowboys away from being unbeaten after four weeks. Totally surprised! (Matty I)

15

11

Pittsburgh Steelers

13

15

17

14

Big Ben and James Harrison are hurt, and the Steelers have the worst offensive line in football.  Pittsburgh needs to make a stand against the Titans this week. (kmb8488)

16

16

Chicago Bears

17

17

15

The Bears' sudden commitment to the ground game will do wonders for Jay Cutler's health.  Chicago's secondary isn't impressive right now. (kmb8488)

17

14

New York Jets

Sanchez looks worse than Henne but their defense will keep them out of the QB sweepstakes. (texascowpunk)

Looked good in week four against a really good team until Romo throws 2 pick 6's......ouch! (texascowpunk)

21

Cleveland Browns

20

20

Cleveland has the talent to do some good things, but their porous linebacer corps is going to hurt them time and time again this season. (kmb8488)

22

27

Cincinnati Bengals

Huge performance by Andy Dalton against Buffalo last Sunday.  Has the Queen City's savior finally arrived? (kmb8488)

23

24

Arizona Cardinals

An absolutely dreadful collapse against NYG last week. This defense worries me, even in a bad division. (Matty I)

Team that should be the worst team in the league, but apparently isn't. (Mosul_DolFan)

25

28

Seattle Seahawks

24

26

27

Team showed some spunk against Atlanta, led by a very good effort out of Tavaris Jackson. Too bad Marshawn Lynch continues to disappoint. (Matty I)

26

25

Jacksonville Jaguars

27

25

26

26

David Garrard nearly moved to Miami, but is still unemployed.  Jacksonville has to know something the rest of us don't, right? (Mosul_DolFan)

27

23

Denver Broncos

26

27

25

27

It's not that Tim Tebow is the answer. But shouldn't this team try to sell some tickets by giving their fans what they want? (Matty I)

28

32

Kansas City Chiefs

28

29

28

Very surprised KC's defense kept Adrian Peterson in check. Big "Suck For Luck" game this week in Indy vs the Colts. (Matty I)

29

26

Minnesota Vikings

29

Blowing considerable leads at home to Tampa Bay and Detroit is one thing, losing to the abysmal Chiefs on the road is another matter entirely. (kmb8488)

The Curtis Painter era looked good - for a half.  If the Colts get the #1 spot and draft Andrew Luck, the rest of the league should just quit. (Mosul_DolFan)

This team needs to get Sam Bradford some weapons. Not a good sign when your leading receiver through 4 games is Danario Alexander. (Matty I)
