Hey guys, this is smileyman from over at Niners Nation. We'll be running a series of posts about the players selected from the 49ers draft trades. To understand the title you have to go back a bit into Niners Nation history. Last season we cut running back Kory Sheets (whom the Dolphins consequently picked up). Very shortly after a user came along who called himself KORY SHEETS WAS OUR FUTURE (all caps were his). Every one of his fan posts was written in all caps and every one of them bemoaned the terrible fate that was to strike the 49ers due to the loss of Kory Sheets.
There were several posters who were furious with the 5th round pick we gave up to acquire Ted Ginn Jr from you guys (I wasn't one of them). We also made a couple of trades in the draft, and so I thought it would be fun to track the progress of these players.
With the pick we gave up for Ted Ginn Jr you guys selected DB Nolan Carroll from Maryland. Reports seemed to indicate plenty of raw talent but lacking in necessary skills (BTW, what is it with Maryland and players with raw talent but not much skill?).
I was just wondering if there were any reports from the OTAs and rookie mini-camps about how Carroll was doing, and whether he looks likely to make the team. Any information you have would be helpful, as well as any fan opinion polls.
