All across the league, teams will be adding the finishing touches to their draft boards over the next week or so. They are making those final tweaks in hopes of limiting the chaos and stress that will occur on draft night when they get placed on the clock.
The Dolphins are no different, with the exception of their draft board being much smaller than those of other teams because of their many different requirements (things like size requirements and character concerns).
So what will our draft board look like?
Below is a voting tool that was created by the fine people over at Dawgs By Nature. And it will allow us to create our own Phinsider Dolphins Big Board.
So how will you create your big board? That depends on what you will take into account. You could place an emphasis on the Dolphins' needs. You could emphasize value. Character might be a concern. Or you might simply care about talent and just talent - in which case you would probably simply rank the players from best to worst.
Whatever you decide, though, the results of this poll should be very interesting to see.
INSTRUCTIONS
Rank the top five available players. Take talent, value, need, and character into account if that is what you would do if you were running the Miami Dolphins. If you don't think "character" should be a factor, then simply don't take each player's character into account when creating your own big board. It's that simple.
Players will receive 5 points for every first place vote, 4 for every second place, and so on. They will receive 0 points if they are unranked. Total points from all ballots will be added, and the 5 players with the most votes will be taken out of the pool of available players and put up on the big board. We'll then move on with ranking players 6-10 in a couple of days.
Some important notes:
This is not a mock draft. So don't treat it as one.
It does not matter if you think the player will be gone by pick twelve. This does not take into account what other teams do.
Do not think about what you think the Dolphins will do. This is our Dolphins Big Board - not Jeff Ireland's.
For example, if I was giving my top five players available based simply on talent alone, I'd rank my top five like this: Eric Berry, Ndamukong Suh, Gerald McCoy, Sam Bradford, Russell Okung. No, none of these five will likely be available when the Dolphins pick. But that doesn't matter for this exercise.
Got it? Good.
So cast your ballot below. Results will be announced in a couple of days, at which time we'll start voting on players 6-10.
