Rumor: Are Dolphins interested in C.J. Spiller?

We all know that this is the time of the year where "misinformation" runs wild within NFL circles. And wouldn't you know it - the Dolphins might be in the thick of things.

There's a rumor from ProFootballTalk that, as of now, is nothing more than just a rumor. But that doesn't mean it isn't interesting:

There's a sense in some league circles that only a truly special running back is worthy of a top-ten draft pick.

If so, it means that some regard Clemson's C.J. Spiller as a truly special running back.

We're hearing talk of teams possibly trying to invade the lower reaches of the top 10 in order to get a crack at Spiller, with rumors currently focusing on the Dolphins and the Giants.

This is sure to excite some Dolphin fans. But we need to keep in mind that when it's rumored a team has interest in a certain player, it could just be an attempt to drive up that player's value in hopes of having other players fall to them. In this instance, with many not having Spiller in their top ten to twelve, getting Spiller's value to rise could benefit the Dolphins by having a potential top ten value fall to them at number twelve.

Whether there is truth to this rumor or not, this is just the first of what will likely be many rumors floating around over the next three weeks.
