Dolphin Mock Drafts Around the 'Net, 3/26

This post is sponsored by Comcast, whose cable line-up includes the NFL Network and NFL Redzone Channel. You can see wall-to-wall coverage of the NFL Draft on NFL Network. You can also check out profiles of the top 100 draft prospects via NFL Network On Demand.

We're now less than four weeks from the NFL Draft and things are starting to come together. Well, not really. The Dolphins do as good a job as any organization at keeping their draft plans confidential. And they are very good at providing "misinformation."

With that said, let's check out the 40+ mock drafts we've been tracking to see who these drafts predict the Dolphins will take.

And also be sure to check out Mocking The Draft as SBN's Official Writer Mock Draft has started. I've already submitted my pick for the Dolphins and it should be posted in the coming days. I'm interested in hearing what you think about my pick and my logic once they post it over at MTD.

Dan Williams: 40% (+)

Sergio Kindle: 13% (-)
Brandon Graham: 11.1% (+)
Dez Bryant: 7% (-)
C.J. Spiller: 2% (-)

Can the Dan Williams bandwagon get any more crowded? Like I said last week, having the Dolphins select Williams in a mock is the "easy pick." But I'm far from ready to assume the big man from Tennessee will be the pick. It's rarely wise to spend a top 15 pick on a situational player like a nose tackle - no matter how valuable they are in a 3-4 defense. And Bill Parcells has historically done a good job of finding his nose tackles later in the draft (i.e. Jason Ferguson and Jay Ratliff).

Meanwhile, 40% of the mocks went with an outside linebacker. But there were four different outside linebackers who were "mocked" to the Dolphins - Jason Pierre-Paul, Sergio Kindle, Brandon Graham, and Derrick Morgan. What can we take away from that fact? Nothing - except that there really isn't a consensus on which if the conversion linebackers would best fit a 3-4 defense. Personally, I'd be happy with any of the four mentioned - though you all know I like TCU's Jerry Hughes most.

Only 9% of the mocks went with an offensive player and I would have to agree here that I don't think the Dolphins spend that #12 pick on a player like C.J. Spiller or Dez Bryant - no matter how much certain fans clamor for them.

The bottom line here is that with less than four weeks to go, it looks like it's anyone's guess as to who the Fins draft with their first round pick.
