Live Thread: Free Agency Signings, Rumors, and Discussion

Well it's finally upon us.  When that clock hits midnight (eastern, of course), NFL GM's all around the country will begin to make their moves in hopes of improving their respective teams - though we know the Dolphins have already made one addition earlier today with the signing of safety Gibril Wilson.

And like there was last year, it's expected that there will be a flurry of activity within a couple of hours of midnight.  Former NFL executive and current analyst for the National Football Post, Michael Lombardi, says, "It's going to happen fairly quickly.  About 10 guys will go early, and that'll be it for the big money."

So that's what this post is for.  Chat all about free agency right here.  If you do post a rumor or signing, please add the link back to the source you read it.  Also, let's keep all the discussion below about football so we don't clutter up the thread.

I will post any and all relevant updates about signings and rumors right here in the body of this post.  So you'll need to "refresh" the post to view them.  But I'll also post a comment letting you know that I've added something.  And if the Dolphins make any actual signings, expect a separate front-page post about it.

Updates will be made below the line, with the most recent updates at the top.

[Update 3:00 am]  Time to get some rest.  A big thanks to all of you for hanging out here tonight.  We picked up about 1,500 comments between the two free agency threads in 3 hours.  Not too shabby for these early morning hours.  You guys made Thursday the 2nd busiest day ever in Phinsider history!

[Update 2:47 am]  Armando Salguero wraps up tonight's festivities nicely.  Joe Berger will visit Miami on Friday and will likely sign a deal with them and compete for the job as starting center or right guard.  The Fins also showed initial interest in Chris Canty, but backed away when they learned how much money he wanted.

[Update 2:00am]  Jeff Darlington is reporting that the Rams' strategy with Jason Brown is "not to allow him to leave their facility without signing a contract."  So be prepared for the hostage situation in St. Louis tomorrow.

[Update 1:51 am]  Adam Schefter is reporting that there's "speculation" that the Rams are the favorite to land Jason Brown.

[Update 1:44 am]  Omar Kelly is reporting that CB Bryant McFadden is seeking $12 million in guaranteed money and $6 million per season - which he believes is far too rich for Miami's blood.

[Update 1:38 am]  According to Jeff Darlington, the Dolphins have contacted the agent for CB Leigh Bodden - but no visit is currently planned.

[Update 1:16 am]  Omar Kelly believes that Brown will not make it out of St. Louis - saying his agent is the kind who doesn't have his client board a plane unless a deal is worked out.

[Update 1:11 am]  Armando Salguero reporting that the agent of Jason Brown has not heard from the Dolphins.

[Update 1:08 am]  Contrary to the PBP's report that Jason Brown was visiting the Redskins, ESPN's John Clayton is reporting Brown will visit the Rams on Friday.

[Update 12:58 am]  Armando Salguero is reporting that the Dolphins are NOT interested in T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

[Update 12:52 am]  It's being reported that G/C Joe Berger will visit Miami on Friday.

[Update 12:29 am]  Armando Salguero is reporting that Chris Canty's agent basically told him he doesn't expect his client to land in Miami.  We also have a bit of a cat fight playing out - as Armando continues to shoot down - emphatically, I might add - the Marvin Harrison rumors - of which Omar Kelly is reporting.  Hmm....

[Update 12:20 am]  Armando Salguero reporting that Andre Goodman is looking for $5 million per year - and the Patriots might have interest in him.

[Update 12:17 am]  Omar Kelly is reporting that he's hearing "strong rumors of Marvin Harrison coming here."  Not sure what I think about this.

[Update 11:48 pm]  The Sun-Sentinel believes the Dolphins will target Jason Brown and Laveranues Coles.

[Update 11:38 pm]  The Palm Beach Post is reporting that it's believed the Dolphins are trying to work out a deal with Andre Goodman before he hits free agency at midnight.

[Update 11:35 pm]  The Palm Beach Post is reporting that Jason Brown will visit the Redskins on Friday.

[Update 11:32 pm]  PFT is reporting that the Dolphins may have interest in Marvin Harrison.  Doesn't make sense to me.

[Update 11:30 pm]  Armando Salguero is reporting that the Dolphins "are going to be aggressive during this free agency period."  He reports that a "club source" has told him that there are a few guys they really like and they're going to bring those guys in for visits as soon as Friday.  One of those players is reportedly Jason Brown - who told another newspaper that he has a lot of respect for Bill Parcells and likes the idea of moving his family down to Miami.  But will the Dolphins be prepared to make that huge offer he's looking for?
