AND IT'S FINALLY HERE!
The 2008 NFL Draft is finally here. After months of speculation and debate, the time for teams to take action is now. And while the intrigue of the Dolphins' #1 overall pick has been killed thanks to the pre-draft signing of Jake Long by the Dolphins, there are still plenty of things to watch as this weekend unfolds.
So what will I specifically be looking for on day one of the draft? I'll be very interested in seeing if the Dolphins do draft a QB at any point on this first day. I don't think they will. And if they do indeed pass on a QB, does that mean this new regime is giving John Beck a vote of confidence? Of course, I'll also be interested in seeing if this regime can indeed swing a deal for another 1st or 2nd round pick by shipping Jason Taylor out of Miami.
Speaking of the Jason Taylor saga, Armando Salguero is at it again. Apparently he has sources nobody else does, writing that he knows for a fact that Taylor is desperately trying to get out of Miami:
He definitely wants out. Very badly, in fact. And it remains unclear what he might resort to if he doesn't get his way.
If that sounds serious, it's because it is serious. It is more serious than those days when Taylor didn't like Nick Saban initially. It is more serious than when he didn't like Cam Cameron for not deferring to him.
Today Jason Taylor is a man who feels personally insulted by the Dolphins. That is a result of a visit last week when he visited the team while on break from his dancing. During that visit Taylor was treated coldly by both coach Tony Sparano and Bill Parcells. He apparently feels disrespected.
And that's really just the tip of the iceberg. That's why I can't wait to get this thing rolling.

**UPDATE 1:25pm** Interesting comments by the Palm Beach Posts' Edgar Thompson:
Word out of Jacksonville is the Jaguars no longer are interested in Jason Taylor.
The Dolphins wanted the Jags’ first-round pick (No. 26), the Jags offered one of their third-rounders (Nos. 71 or 89).
No one blinked. Now any chance for a deal seems to be dead.
**UPDATE 4:02pm** It seems Thompson's above report was accurate, as the Jags have traded up to take Derrick Harvey to fill their pass-rushing need.
