Dolphins regular season schedule announced; host Jets in opener

Incase you missed it, the 2008 regular season schedule is set to be released today at 2 pm eastern.  You can watch the release show on NFL Network, beginning at 2 pm.  ESPN, I believe, is also doing something for it.

Update [2008-4-15 14:2:49 by Matty I]: The Dolphins 2008 regular season schedule has been released. Here's how it looks:

Week 1: Jets at Dolphins 1 pm
Week 2: Dolphins at Cardinals 4:15 pm
Week 3: Dolphins at Patriots 1 pm
Week 4: BYE WEEK
Week 5: Chargers at Dolphins 1 pm
Week 6: Dolphins at Texans 1 pm
Week 7: Ravens at Dolphins 1 pm
Week 8: Bills at Dolphins 1 pm
Week 9: Dolphins at Broncos 4:05 pm
Week 10: Seahawks at Dolphins 1 pm
Week 11: Raiders at Dolphins 1 pm
Week 12: Patriots at Dolphins 1 pm
Week 13: Dolphins at Rams 1 pm
Week 14: Dolphins at Bills 4:05 pm (played in Toronto)
Week 15: 49ers at Dolphins 1 pm
Week 16: Dolphins at Chiefs 1 pm
Week 17: Dolphins at Jets 1 pm

Note: Beginning week 11, those times can change due to flex scheduling.

Note: The time for the Dolphins/Bills game in Toronto is in question. MiamiDolphins.com says the game is a 4:05 kickoff, while NFL.com has the game listed as a 1:00 kickoff.

Thoughts

-I love the fact that the Dolphins will open at home against the Jets. What a great way to kick off a new era! This is the first time the Dolphins will open with the Jets since 1995. The Fins won that game 52-14.

-Second season in a row that will feature the Dolphins playing outside of the United States. This time, however, they are not the "home" team, so that's good. And after thinking about it, it might be better to play the Bills in Toronto rather than in Buffalo. I don't think the environment will be as intimidating. And it won't be cold, as the game will be played in the Rogers Center (formerly the Sky Dome). Most likely, the roof will be closed. Good news for the Fins.

-Miami has a tough schedule in those final 8 games of the season. They got 3 in a row at home in mid-November, but two of those teams are playoff teams from a year ago (Pats and Seahawks). Then they close the season with 4 of their last 5 on the road, including cold weather stops in Kansas City and East Rutherford. Ugh!

-Not surprising that the Dolphins do not have any prime-time games in 2008 (unless a game gets flexed to a Sunday night game). It's only the 2nd time since 1970 that the Fins won't play a prime-time game.
