Dolphins sign Charlie Anderson; plus a little info on Reggie Torbor

First off, the Miami Herald is reporting that the Dolphins have signed Texans' linebacker Charlie Anderson.  All I really know about Anderson is that he can play special teams and that he might be versatile enough to play inside or outside linebacker.

By the way, hat tip to hotrod43 for pointing this out.

Moving on, I got in touch with Ed Valentine of Big Blue View to get some thoughts on Reggie Torbor.  Here's what he told me:

New York Giants' fans are not surprised that Reggie Torbor left New York for the Miami Dolphins. Torbor was never going to be more than a backup with the Giants, and the opportunity to compete for a starting spot was too enticing.

Torbor has good athletic ability for an outside linebacker, but prior to this season his primary impact with the Giants had always been on special teams -- where he excels.
Torbor took over at outside linebacker this season when Mathiam Kiwanuka got hurt, and did a good job. In previous opportunities at linebacker, Torbor had been found wanting. This time he played well. The Giants, though, view him as a career backup.

He might surprise and play well with a full-time opportunity. Don't expect him to a guy who can replace Zach Thomas, though.

At least, at the very least, he'll provide depth while being a solid contributor on special teams.
