Phearless Phorecast: Week 3

You know, this is quickly becoming the pointless forecast.  Last week, I got my ass absolutely handed to me.  But week 3 begins my turn around.  Yup.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.  Yes sir!  This is the week for me.

Last Week: 0-5
Season: 1-9

Panthers -3.5 at Falcons
Last week, the Texans really spanked Carolina, lighting up their defense.  Atlanta, however, continues to struggle and I don't see how their defense is going to contain Steve Smith.  The way I see this game, if the Panthers can score 17 points, they win this game and do so by enough to cover.  Personally, I'd be surprised if the Falcons crack double digits.  They are a team with more sacks allowed than points scored all season.  That doesn't bode well for Atlanta.

Eagles -6 vs Lions
Call me crazy, but I just don't see any situation in which the Eagles lose at home in front of their fans to fall to 0-3 while the Lions win a tough road game in a hostile environment to go 3-0.  After all, they are still the Lions.  The Eagles have a good defense and will be able to slow this Lions' passing attack.  Six is a lot of points to lay here, but I'll take my chances.

Colts -6 at Texans
Yes, the Texans look impressive so far this year.  But they will be trying to outscore the Colts without their best player, Andre Johnson, who could miss up to the next 5 games.  Johnson has accounted for 58% of the team's receiving yards and without him, will have to turn to Kevin Walter and Jacoby Jones.  Sorry, but that ain't going to cut it.  The Colts will score early and often and should have no problem covering this game.

Dolphins +3 at Jets
This is the first time I'll be picking a Dolphins game.  Generally, I try to stay away from their games because I find myself blinded by my love for the Fins.  However, this week is different, as I really don't see the Dolphins losing, and if they do, it shouldn't be by more than 3.  I just think Trent's going to have a lot of time to throw and Ronnie is going to have a lot of room to run.  As long as the Dolphins can control the ball and contain Laveranues Coles, I think they will find a way to pull this one out.  It's a risky play, for sure, as the Dolphins din't fare well in the Meadowlands.  But I believe...

Saints -4 vs Titans
I love this pick.  I'm not a big Saints guy and I'll be the first to admit that I love seeing Reggie Bush struggle because I think he's insanely overrated.  But at home on a Monday night, I'll put my trust in Drew Brees and company.  I don't like this Titan offense.  They played better than I thought they would against Indy, but I don't see a big performance two weeks in a row.  I think the Saints finally get on track and pick up the win.

Let's hope I have better luck than last week!
