Time to look at some reports from today's afternoon practice session. First up is Edgar Thompson:
-RT Anthony Alabi was on the bike. He tweaked his knee this morning, but no update on that.
-The injury to Alabi has led coaches to shake-up the first-team O-line a bit. Rookie Drew Mormino moved from RG to LG; Rex Hadnot stepped in at RG; LG Chris Liwienski moved to RT.
Coaches must be really disappointed with RT L.J. Shelton because he remained with the back-ups despite Alabi's injury.
-K Jay Feely could make things interesting this season with his ability to onside kick.
-TE David Martin excelled during third-down situational drills.
-DE Matt Roth blew by Mormino on one play to "sack" Trent Green. Of greater concern, rookie DE/LB Abraham Wright turned the corner with relative ease on Vernon Carey.
-Chris Chambers dropped the ball on a drag route, though Lemon's throw was a bit off. Chambers bounced back immediately to make three nice catches during the next five plays.
-John Beck continues to make some impressive throws. The rookie's release and accuracy can be something to behold.
Good stuff. I can't seem to get enough of the positive reports on John Beck.
These next observations come from Kevin Clark:
-Linebacker Channing Crowder and defensive end Vonnie Holliday exploded into the backfield to get to Lorenzo Booker, who didn't have a chance to go another yard.
-Defensive tackle Rodrique Wright recovered a Lemon fumble. Someone on the defense yelled "Yeah, get off the field!" to Lemon. It wasn't clear who said it, but it was certainly the most interesting piece of trash talk in 7-on-7 drills all training camp.
-Cornerback Michael Lehan jammed his hand on a Lemon completion to fullback Corey Schlesinger.
Well that's it for today. Tomorrow, practice is at 9:30 am and 7:00 pm. The evening practice is at Dolphin Stadium. Be sure to head out there if you can, as the players will sign autographs prior to practice.
