Mid-Season Player Rankings

With the season now half over for the Dolphins, now would be a good time to take a step back and quickly evaluate how this team has performed in terms of individual efforts. So, presented for your approval (and discussion) are the top 25 Dolphins players for the first half of the 2007 season. Yes, it was hard to find 25 players worthy to be listed, but I did my best. Here's what I came up with:

1 Ronnie Brown Was the best RB in the NFL in 2007 before his injury; proved he was worth the #2 pick
2 Zach Thomas Has missed 3 games and still ranks 26th in NFL in total tackles; averages 10.4 tackles/game
3 Vernon Carey Has only allowed 2 sacks; team gaining nearly 6 ypc running behind him
4 Samson Satele A rookie who starts at center from day 1 is rare; this kid is special and continues to improve
5 Jay Feely Has been outstanding kicking FGs; his only miss was a 48 yarder on a soggy London field
6 Jesse Chatman Has looked good replacing Ronnie; averaging 5.4 ypc to go with 14 catches
7 Rex Hadnot Has been the vocal leader of the resurgent OL; Has only allowed 1 sack
8 Jason Taylor Has disappointed and would be ranked lower if team wasn't so bad; leads team with 4 sacks
9 Justin Peelle Has outplayed the starter; good run blocker who has made key plays in passing game
10 L.J. Shelton Has surprised with his improved play at the RT spot
11 Marty Booker Veteran amongst all the youngsters at WR who continues to be most consistent Dolphin WR
12 Renaldo Hill Leader of the secondary until he was lost for season; made plays in coverage and run support
13 Keith Traylor Big man wears down quickly, but gets good push up front against run and pass
14 Derek Hagan Has shown a knack to get open, especially on 3rd down; has a 57% catch percentage
15 Ted Ginn Jr. Has been making strides each game; gets open surprisingly often but QBs can't get him ball
16 Reagan Mauia Rookie FB has done nice job leading the way for the backs; will only get better
17 Chris Liwienski Has played surprisingly well, but does lead the OL in penalties with 3
18 David Martin Invisible at times, but does catch 75% of passes thrown his way and has scored twice
19 Trent Green Gave his all every game and continues to mentor Beck despite his career likely being over
20 Will Allen Hasn't gotten beat as often as in past; 16th in NFL with 7 passes defensed
21 Channing Crowder Has been a disappointment but is tied for team lead with 1.5 TFL
22 Matt Roth Another disappointment but does have 2 sacks and 1.5 TFL
23 Michael Lehan Has not been as bad as I thought; even makes a few plays in run support
24 Cleo Lemon Clearly not the answer at QB, but has scored 6 touchdowns while committing 5 turnovers
25 Joey Porter A huge disappointment but cracks the top 25 because the alternatives are even worse

So how did I do? Let me know what changes you would make and if I left anyone off that you feel was deserving. If nothing else, this will provide us with something to talk about as we await a decision on the starting QB for week 10.
