Some Dolphin Notes: Jason Allen, Travis Daniels, John Beck, and more

A lot of news coming out of practice today so let's talk a little bit about some of the more important things.

First, Jason Allen has been moved back to safety and will be Donovin Darius's primary backup.  Meanwhile, Travis Daniels was moved back to corner after the safety experiment failed.  It'll be interesting to see how involved Daniels is on the field.  Will Allen and Andre Goodman are likely to be the starting corners.  So that means Daniels will compete with Michael Lehan for the nickelback spot.  At this point, I'm not sure who will see more action on Sunday, so we'll have to wait and see.  As far as Jason Allen goes, maybe we'll get to see if he will ever amount to anything more than a poor special teams player.  Hopefully, his physical ability allows him to make up for the mental lapses he's had in the past at safety.  He's got all the tools to become good NFL safety.  Hopefully he can put it all together.  For now, though, it's good he's back at his main position and let's hope for the best from Allen.

Meanwhile, Trent Green is back in Kansas City visiting his own doctors.  Tests are being run on him and he seems pretty upbeat.  Hopefully he doesn't have any long-terms issues from this latest concussion.

And speaking of quarterbacks, you may be wondering what's been going on in practice this week.  Well the Dolphins still have only 2 QBs on the roster and it's unlikely they will sign another.  The emergency quarterback is going to be Marty Booker, who took a few snaps in practice "just incase."  So that means with just 2 QBs in practice that John Beck and Cleo Lemon are going back and forth from scout team QB to working with the first teamers.  Though I'm sure Cleo is getting the majority of the reps with the starters, Beck is still seeing some action with the starters as well.  This is a far cry from working with the scout team all week long like he did in previous weeks.  Hopefully he takes these opportunities to get his timing down with the starters as well as grasping the offense.

One last thing before I get to the injury report for today, it's being reported that Derek Hagan is out indefinitely with a strained hamstring.  This could mean more opportunities for Ted Ginn.
