Born, raised, and educated in Massachusetts, I'm a homer through and through.
Married to a rabid sports nut, I'm also Mom to 3 rabid sports nut teenage sons, and 1 preteen daughter who adds the voice of sanity, reason, perspective and pink to the household. (I know what you're thinking... if we're relying on a preteen girl for sanity and perspective, we've got issues. I won't disagree.)
Having also grown up with 3 rabid sports nut older brothers, it was only a matter of time and destiny before I found Pats Pulpit, and a nifty home for my own inner sports nut to emerge. It's the best blog in town.
Go Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins, but...
Gotta love those Pats!

- Fox Sports on MSN ranks them 11th (+4): Bill Belichick engineered the perfect blueprint against a Mike Martz offense, namely playing "Keep Away" on offense by holding the ball for nearly 40 minutes against the 49ers.
- ESPN ranks them 9th (+13): The Patriots got just what they needed after their bye week. They bounced back from their crushing Week 3 loss to the Dolphins with a methodical victory over the 49ers.
- ProFootball Weekly ranks them 9th (+4): Shocking that teams don’t expect a Kevin Faulk direct snap.

- USA Today ranks them 9th (+1): Big test looms for Cassel in San Diego this week.
- The Sporting News ranks them 7th (+3): The Patriots have realized no one can replace Brady, last year's MVP, but they can still win with committee contributions from their offense. Matt Cassel just needs to keep leaning on his fine supporting cast.
- Peter King at SI ranks them 6th (+4): The hounds have been released. Matt Cassel has been allowed to throw it way far downfield. See that smile on the sidelines from Randy Moss?
- Dr. Z at SI ranks them 6th (+1): The jury's still out. Don't forget that the Niners, with J.T. O'Sullivan looking like a highly functional NFL quarterback on one play and Ichabod Crane on the next one, were down by only six with 10:22 left. OK, the Pats closed it out, but if you asked me which team on the field showed more fire and spirit, I'd have to say San Francisco.

NFL Sends letter to Raiders' owner, Al Davis
The National Football Post reports that Al Davis is in violation of league rules:
League sources have confirmed to us here at The National Football Post that the NFL League Office has sent Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis a letter informing him that he was in violation of NFL league rules when he falsely accused the New England Patriots of tampering with then Raider wide receiver Randy Moss. This violation of NFL team policy and guidelines will certainly come with a hefty fine.

Patriots Football Weekly has been and will be tracking as much of the Patriots time in San Jose as they're allowed to - whether it’s here on their blog or through updates on Patriots.com. Well worth a read for the inside scoop.
- Mike Reiss looks at the snaps played by offensive skill-position players in the Patriots' 30-21 win over the 49ers. - Greg Beachum (AP) continues his analysis of Sunday's win, saying the Patriots returned from their bye week with a comprehensive effort that should erase the bad taste of the defending AFC champions' stunning blowout loss to Miami.
- Beachum (AP) also writes from the 49ers perspective. "[Head coach Mike] Nolan was surprised to see New England's lack of innovation for the game after coach Bill Belichick's staff had a bye week to prepare. Nolan said the Patriots did nothing the 49ers hadn't already seen on film - which suggests New England's opinion of the 49ers is every bit as low as San Francisco's defensive abilities."
