Jake Long in Madden 09
Looking a little scrawny there, eh EA Sports?
Hopefully that's Vernon Gholston spawled out on the turf.

John Clayton likes Henne.
I was just watching the 6 o'clock Sportscenter and they had Senior Writer John Clayton on to talk some NFL football. When posed the question, "Which rookie quarterback will have the biggest impact in 2008?" Clayton didn't hesitate in responding, "Chad Henne." Clayton explained that Miami's offense would be predominantly run-heavy, which could suit Henne well if he gets a chance to start. I think that McCown will get the nod for the Opening Kickoff Weekend, but I'm right with Clayton in thinking Henne will be the man by the end of the season.

The Glory Days.
Ugh, the NFL Network is replaying the Dolphins/Jets Monday Night Football game. You know... THAT one. I think I'm going to turn it off at half time. But it's nice to see the team in it's real last hurrah before New England took over the East. Who knew that Jay Fiedler could lead an offense so well?!
Also, who ever let Dennis Miller into a broadcasting booth? I can just imagine Dan Fouts rolling his eyes and shaking his head every time the guy opens his mouth to make a comment.

Henne, Long, and Gholston.
You have to think Henne will feel more comfortable in the pocket knowing the man who's had his back for the past several years will be there once more.
Also, it's interesting that two Ohio State/Michigan rivals will continue to line up against one another for years to come in the AFC East. Hopefully the Long vs. Gholston battles will be entertaining and epic. You have to love sneaking a 1st Round talent in Merling onto your team in the 2nd Round.

Protection is paramount.
Taking a look around the AFC East, it's easy to see the importance of having two, high quality offensive tackles on your team. Drafting Jake Long to play LT and moving Carey over to RT makes an awful lot of sense. Both the Jets and Patriots run 3-4 base schemes that involve a lot of outside blitzing (think Calvin Pace, Adalius Thomas, etc.) and rely heavily on solid defensive ends (think Richard Seymour, etc.). With that kind of pressure coming off the ends it is essential to have two rocks anchoring the offensive line on either side. The lone 4-3 defense in the division belongs to Buffalo, but they employ possibly the best pass rushing DE in East with Aaron Schobel.
Also, think about how adding a top-notch offensive tackle (Pro-Bowl Rookie, Joe Thomas) allowed the Cleveland Browns to really develop and produce both in the air and on the ground last year.
