Q: What do you think about the weather? Are you afraid a hurricane will come through Miami?
CROYLE: "I didn’t know anything about that. Thanks for bringing it up though."

If there was one position where the Chiefs may be active on the waiver wire the day after the final NFL cutdown, it will be at linebacker.

Your Arrowhead Stadium Gameday Rituals

A couple of weeks ago, a reader e-mailed me asking about putting together an Arrowhead Stadium gameday guide, especially for fans who are traveling in from outside of the Kansas City area.
He had an excellent idea. The majority of the people who read AP do not live in Kansas City and when you do travel to Arrowhead for that special game, you want things to go right. You want the full Arrowhead/Kansas City Chiefs experience.
Of course, there isn't one magical experience, which is what makes Arrowhead the best stadium on the planet. There are thousands of awesome rituals and experiences on gameday.
I haven't been lucky enough to go to as many games as I've wanted over the years but I do have a few gameday requirements. First, because I would always travel from the west to the east to get to the stadium, I'm taking the shortcut down Coal Mine Rd (which is off of Blue Parkway) and sneaking in past all of the traffic.
Second, and we haven't had a good BBQ war on this site in a long time, is to get Oklahoma Joe's BBQ before I left. The Z-Man sandwich - a brisket sandwich with provolone cheese and an onion ring on it - is the best BBQ sandwich I've come across in my life.
After getting to the stadium, I can't say I'm much help for entertainment.
This is where you guys come in. Let us know you gameday rituals, experiences and advice for the out of towner. We'll eventually put this all into some sort of guide with all of your recommendations.
If you were making a special trip to Kansas City to see the Chiefs, what would you have to do?

I had no idea he was ill. I wish his family the best of luck getting over this. -Chris

Wait though, why is Joe Montana always on one of these lists? In fact, even a few weeks ago, Bill Simmons of ESPN was joking on his podcast that a website should be set up showing off these late-in-career jerseys and Montana was the butt of most of his jokes as an embarrassment. Did Montana really embarrass himself during his two years as a Kansas City Chief like The Sports Guy would want you to believe? I say, emphatically, no. Shall we take a quick look at reality instead of perception?

As for the diet, Hall said he gave up fast food and went healthy.
"A lot of greens. A lot of fish. A lot of water intake," he said. "I'd rather have a sub sandwich instead of fast food. And in the evening, I would have my girl — I have a girlfriend now — cook for me more. Baked chicken. Asparagus ..."
Hall is about five to 10 pounds lighter than he was a year ago, and he feels more energetic.

2008 Preseason Already a Relative Success
Good morning everyone. I've got a few more stats for you to look at, comparing the four preseason games from last to the two the Kansas City Chiefs have played so far this year. The more I look back on 2007 the more I realize what a black hole it will be in my memory. That wasn't even football we were playing last year. And I really need to watch the two preseseason games because I'm starting to sound like a broken record.
| 2008 | 2007 | |
| 1st downs | 40 | 51 |
|
Total yards |
682 | 897 |
| 3rd down % | 43.3% (13/30) | 30% (15/50) |
| TDs | 4 | 3 |
| Points | 41 |
32 |
DJ and Direckshun have some good stuff already posted from last night so I won't take up too much more of your time. Here's a little Chiefs blogosphere round up for you.
KC Chiefs Fanatic - Roster Roundup - WR
Arrowhead Addict - Biggest Personnel Mistake?
BobGretz.com - Wednesday Morning Cup 'O Chiefs
Kent Babb, KC Star - Though just a temp for Chiefs, Taylor hopes to make lasting impression
Is this the golden age for Kansas City Chiefs coverage or what? We have so many sources of information, so many interesting and excellent people covering our team and the best sports staff of any newspaper in the country. Kent Babb is my favorite Star columnist; Bob Gretz runs the best Chiefs sports blog; and there is so much video and other media content out there to satisfy even the most die-hard fans.
To you older fans reading this, how does 2008 compare to twenty, thirty or even forty years ago as far as the quality of coverage? Do you like more choices and more outlets or has the level of discussion declined in your opinion?
I have a mean libertarian streak in me so I'm always going to say more choice is better.

The Chiefs have kept their offensive lineup intact but a change could take place soon.
Coach Herm Edwards appears to be losing patience with right tackle Damion McIntosh, who missed today's practice with what Edwards called a sore ankle. McIntosh could be back to work as soon as today, but he missed a lot of practice time in Wisconsin with a sore knee.

I’m talking about the Chiefs current stable of linebackers of course, and while you might be sitting at home right now scratching your head in wonder seeing as it seems as though it was only yesterday that the linebacker corps was the strong point of our defense, allow me to give you my thoughts on how they have fallen so far so quickly.

A Quick Look at Important Dates
Just a heads up...
Aug. 26: Roster cutdown to maximum of 75 players.
Aug. 30: Roster cutdown to maximum of 53 players.
There are twenty days until we play the New England Patriots. We take on Miami this Saturday and then on Thursday the 28th we take on the Rams for the Governor's Cup. The Cup game will be at Arrowhead and we'll welcome Trent Green back into the stadium for probably the last time.2 comments | 0 recs
