The Phinsider Community Mock Draft: Pick #22 - Dallas Cowboys

With the 21st pick in The Phinsider Community Mock Draft, the Washington Redskins select Limas Sweed, WR, Texas.

Sweed won by just 1% of the vote.  He picked up 21% while Phillip Merling earned 20%.

So the 5 most recent picks look like this:

  17. Minnesota Vikings - Derrick Hervey, DE, Florida (58%)
  18. Houston Texans - Branden Albert, G/T, Virginia (28%)
  19. Philadelphia Eagies - DeSean Jackson, WR, Cal (41%)
  20. Tampa Bay Bucs - Devin Thomas, WR, Michigan St. (29%)
  21. Washington Redskins - Limas Sweed, WR, Texas (21%)

Next up, with pick #22, are the Dallas Cowboys.  For Cowboys' news and analysis, head over to Blogging The Boys.  Below are their draft needs, courtesy of NFL Draft Countdown:

1. Cornerback: Jacques Reeves left as a free agent and he wasn't a star that still hurts. At the absolute least Dallas needs an upgrade in the nickel who they can groom to ultimately start in a year or two
2. Wide Receiver: Patrick Crayton emerged and he was locked up long-term but Terrell Owens is getting older and Terry Glenn may be just about finished so they could use a young, speedy deep threat.
3. Running Back: Julius Jones fled as a free agent and Pro Bowler Marion Barber now steps into the starting job but they still have to find someone to compliment him and be the lightning to his thunder.

Dallas selects: Aqib Talib 6-1 202 4.45 CB Kansas
Cowboys still need to contend with big receivers like Plaxico Burress. Even if they get Pacman, which I think would be a mistake, he is not a big physical corner. Anthony Henry fills that role now, but he is getting older and may have been too old last year.
Since Parcells left, they have been getting less and less concerned with Character flaws and questions.
The future of Cornerback in Dallas has a Kansas State-Kansas rivalry (out of which the competition could improve both players).

Dallas
Corner. I've taken Mike Jenkins a few times already so I'll switch it up. Cason was my pick. Cason is a guy I hope we have a chance with at #32.
