The Phinsider Community Mock Draft: Pick #10 - New Orleans Saints

With the 9th pick in The Phinsider Community Mock Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC.

Ellis picked up 80% of the vote, which is the largest total so far. A distant second place was Keith Rivers with 5%.

So here's how the last 5 picks in our draft have gone:

Kansas City Chiefs - Ryan Clady, OT, Boise St. (30%)
New York Jets - Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio St. (56%)
New England Patriots - Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB, Tenn St. (32%)
Baltimore Ravens - Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU (41%)
Cincinnati Bengals - Sedrick Ellis, DT, LSU (80%)

Next up, rounding out the top 10, are the New Orleans Saints. Below are the Saints' needs, courtesy of NFL Draft Countdown:

1. Defensive Tackle: Brian Young, Hollis Thomas & Kendrick Clancy are all okay but there is not an impact player among them and it is probably time to bring in a difference maker in the middle of the line.
2. Outside Linebacker: Scott Fujita & Scott Shanle have been okay but neither is so good they can't be upgraded. They are also thin in the depth department so an injury would leave them in a real bind.
3. Center: Jeff Faine was an unherladed performer in the pivot for them but he left for a huge free agent deal with the Bucs. Jonathan Goodwin is just a journeyman and is better suited for a backup role.

Keith Rivers all the way. From what I hear they love him. If a DT slipped maybe one of the two, Dorsey or Ellis, would be a steal.

I see Rivers going to New Orleans, that's my selection.

Though I'm sure they'd love to have the option of picking McKelvin or Cromartie as well as Ellis.

Especially with the possibility of top 5 talent dropping to them at 10. I went with McKelvin because I think he's the best talent on the board at this point, and they could definitely upgrade the corner position. (I still remember watching Reggie Wayne destroy Jason David in Week 1) They'll most likely fill the LB need in round 2 or 3 because they do have a couple vets to fall back on.

McKelvin, with Rivers a possibility.

I definitively went with McKelvin. I think he's a very good prospect and he fills a bigger need for New Orleans IMO.

Rivers possibly, but I think they'd go corner or DT if one of them happened to fall.

gay is not the answer,,, they have been desperate for a young cornerstone cornerback for a while,,,, i dont think they'll turn down the opportunity to get an early-to-mid 1st round talent at the position
