Dolphins sign Nathan Jones

The Dolphins have added another former Cowboy to the mix, according to the team's website, signing defensive back Nathan Jones to a two year deal:

The Miami Dolphins today signed four-year veteran cornerback Nathan Jones, to a two-year contract as an unrestricted free agent from the Dallas Cowboys.

The 25-year-old Jones was a seventh-round draft choice of Dallas in 2004. In his four seasons with the Cowboys, he played in 51 regular season games, including one start. He collected 58 tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles on defense. He also stood out on special teams, where he totaled 26 tackles.

Another good special teams player, Jones will likely provide depth to the secondary as a dime back or 5th corner.

I'll say this
Ginn had 2 TD returns called back. He had no help and penalties galore. If nothing else our special teams have been really upgraded which should greatly improve field postions. Not to mention special teamers that can actually block and create gaps and not penalties, Ginn's impact as a returner should be only matched by Devan Hester. I truly think with with the upgrade on STs and a competent coaching staff Ginn is set for a really big breakout season.
"It all starts with the Dolphins," an executive with another team said Sunday, "and not a single person here has any idea what they're going to do."

we would hope for this to be true
except that i'm not sure he looked better in games 14,15,&16 then he did in games 8,9,&10.

I'm just not sure he has the elusiveness that hester has, but i do hope i'm wrong and that his improvement plateauing at mid season is more of a sign of injuries and poor coaching then having reached some sort 100% of his talent/skills.

agreed
I like the idea of finally getting younger players & help in areas we need instead of going after 1-2 big named player(s). We should really improve within the next few years & I am really looking forward to it..

agreed...
i completely agree with both of u guys...however i think that we are improving in the basic things that every teams needs to win like special teams, and where gona go for the'playmakers' or big name players in the draft. Why next few years, ha ha, maybe this year?

Ginn
We're putting a lot of our hopes on Ted Ginn Jr. He's supposed to be the next Devin Hester on returns while blossoming as our #1 receiver. I love the guy and see big things for him, but we should also be realistic in our expectations.

I think his Mom is the next Jerry Rice, though.

Brady Quinn
Matt Ryan is high on the draft board because there are no QB's worth a crap. IMO if you feel we need a QB (which I do) you trade that #1 to Cleveland for Brady Quinn and more draft choices. You get a much better QB for alot cheaper than Ryan is going to cost you (= more cap monies). Weather you like it or not BQ is going to be something special. Its all about the QB! Ok you can now slam the newbe:)

lets see
quinn bombs in last years draft, falls to the twenty something pick, holds outs and loses any shot at the starting job and in effect does nothing... now you want to trade down out of the #1 pick for him.

consider me underwhelmed

better than ryan
dolphins should have taken him at #9. not saying he's a #1, but better than ryan and you get him at a discount. Take quinn and next years #1 pick and a little more from the browns

IMO
that doesnt sound that bad.. would it work? most likely not, but.. im a little higher on quinn than ryan..  imagine the rap songs..

not gonna happen....
as an Irish fan, that would be heaven to me... i was crushed when they passed on him last year.

but trading the top pick and not getting another first rounder in return just won't fly. Quinn's a Brown- and he'll be starting by next year at the latest IMO.
