Video Time: John Beck!!

Here's the final highlight of the Dolphins' 2007 season: John Beck's first career touchdown pass in the NFL. At the very least, his performance against the Bengals that last week gave him something to build on in the future. Damnit, I can't wait for training camp already!

Mike Tice? Please No!!!
MIke Tice Enters Miami Dolphins Head-Coaching Discussion

by Ryan Wilson

I think this would make the three other AFC East teams extremely happy. From the Pioneer Press' Charley Walters (who seemingly has a lot of sources, none of whom have names):

People close to former Vikings coach Mike Tice insist he will be named the Dolphins' head coach next week if Jacksonville, for which Tice is a top assistant, loses at New England on Saturday.

This is news to ... well, everybody, I think. Cowboys' offensive line coach Tony Sparano is the most popular name floating around as Cam Cameron's successor. As the story goes, he's Bill Parcells' guy, and the Dolphins are interviewing other candidates just to give the appearance of fairness.

Tice would be a surprising choice, particularly since Parcells is seemingly interested in bringing in "his people". That said, I don't think Tice would be a completely awful choice (how's that for a ringing endorsement?).

The media (and some fans) like to portray him as a pencil-wielding meat head, but he only had one losing season in his four years with the Vikings. Of course, there's an argument than some of those Minnesota teams underachieved, which was part of Miami's problem last season (along with not having very many good players).

If Jacksonville beats New England Tice won't have to worry about missing out on the Miami job; if the Pats, predestined for 19-0, lose tonight it'll be the end of civilization as we know it.

Unfortunately
This was about the only highlight throughout the 5 games he played.  Only other one was the drive with the Beck rush for TD in the same game.

Remember..........................................
................how bad Brett Favre sucked his first FEW YEARS? He threw more int's than TD's for a long time, but he "just had something," a fire, a drive, a passion..... I see the same thing in John Beck, with a rocket release, balls to spare, and a total team & winning attitude, with a big dose of modesty & down to eartness. They are alot alike. We've gotta build this guy a team, give him a coaching staff, and watch the fire burn. I just think he "has it."

But Brett Favre wasn't...
26 years old his rookie season.

That's the one fundamental problem with Beck.  He just flat hasn't got "a few years" to burn.  If he doesn't become productive very soon, he isn't this team's future at QB.

Don't get me wrong.  I'm hopeful for the guy, but there's just no denying he's 4 years behind the curve.  He's got to develop at a much faster pace than somebody who entered the league at 22.  If he doesn't, the calculation for determining whether to continue investing in him starts tipping the other way awfully quickly; he literally doesn't have as much future to invest in.
