Saturday Morning Camp Reports

So official training camp is finally here!  Before you know it, we'll be watching our Dolphins hit the field against an opponent other than themselves.

This morning's practice was at 8:30 and here are some observations by the south Florida media.

First up, Greg Bedard live blogged the first practice and here are some of his observations:

-Ted Ginn Jr. is fielding the first punt. He looks healthy to me. Here's the rest of the order of returners: Az Hakim, Lorenzo Booker, Travis Daniels, Marty Booker and Chris Chambers;

-Ginn just made a spectacular one-handed catch in the end zone with his left hand as he was running a post down the right side of the field. That drew the first round of applause from the fans. There was no defense on the field;

-You can forget about Ronnie Brown's weight being a possible problem. He looks extremely trim and is in great shape;

-First-team offense: QB Trent Green RB Ronnie Brown FB Cory Schlesinger WR Chris Chambers WR Marty Booker TE David Martin LT Vernon Carey LG Chris Liwienski C Samson Satele RG Drew Mormino RT Anthony Alabi

-First-team defense: DE Matt Roth DT Vonnie Holliday DT Keith Traylor DE Jason Taylor LB Joey Porter LB Zach Thomas LB Channing Crower CB Will Allen CB Travis Daniels S Yeremiah Bell S Renaldo Hill

He said that the practice was "very easy" and that coach must be "easing" them into it.

Next, Kevin Clark writes the following:

Brandon Fields and Ryan Flinn traded off punting to a whole stable of returners. Ginn was among them, but so were running back Lorenzo Booker, defensive back Travis Daniels and wide receivers Marty Booker, Chris Chambers and Az-Zahir Hakim.

There was little contact and little defense, but the quarterbacks and wide receivers faced the linebackers and defensive backs in passing drills.

Players weren't in pads either, but cornerback Travis Daniels was still forceful enough to make tight end David Martin drop a Trent Green pass.

Wide receiver Kerry Reed had a great catch in traffic from quarterback John Beck as the two continued to show the chemistry they displayed throughout rookie camp.

All in all, it seems like it was an uneventful first practice.  Later on, they hit the field at 4pm.  Tomorrow, though, is when the fun starts, as it will be the first practice with the pads on and with full contact.  Tomorrow's practice is scheduled for 2:30pm.
