E-Mail Time

You know how you know if your website has really started to "make it"?  It's not when you get good feedback from readers.  It's when you get an e-mail like the one I'm about to show you from a person who calls himself "Shane Mularkey."  The e-mail was titled, "comments on articles about mike mularkey."  Here's part of the e-mail, edited for content:

You are a piece of sh*t and im a 16 year old fan that knows more than you do. if i ever meet you i would f*cking whoop your bitch ass. prey that i never see you cuz i sware you will regret writing ridiculous articles that just show your lack of knowledge...

sincerely. f*ck you assf*ck

So is this Mike Mularkey's son? It could be. Either way, it's clear that English class is not one of this writer's strong points (see "sware" instead of "swear" and "prey" instead of "pray").  Regardless of if this is his son, I find him very amusing and hope I hear back from him soon.

Of course, the thing that is most interesting is the fact that he claims to know more about football than me but then is criticising me for saying Mike Mularkey is a bad head coach and offensive coordinator.  Isn't that an oxymoron?

First off, ask any Bills' fan what they think of Mularkey as a head coach. In fact, click this link to read a Buffalo fan's opinion of him. Enough said.  And as far as offensive coordinator, the numbers don't lie.  He wasn't successful as Miami's offensive coordinator.  And he was a terrible play caller.  Any good play caller knows to get the ball into the hands of the offense's best player.  Cam Cameron did that in San Diego (Tomlinson), Sean Payton does that in New Orleans (Bush), and John Fox does that in Carolina (Steve Smith).  Your job as an offensive coordinator is to be creative and get the ball to your playmakers.  The Dolphins best offensive player is Ronnie Brown, but Mularkey chose to pass it over 60% of the time, relying on guys like Joey Harrington and Cleo Lemon.  If that's not bad playcalling, I don't know what is.

Regardless, I hope to hear from "Shane Mularkey" again, if for no other reason than the fact that I can always use a good laugh.

**UPDATE**: In Mike Mularkey's bio on the team's official site, it does say he has a son named Shane. So this e-mail could have come from one of Mike's actual children. Or it could be from a guy with way too much time on his hands. Either way, it doesn't matter to me because I, as a fan, have a right to an opinion. And my opinion of Mike Mularkey is that he was a terrible offensive coordinator for the Miami Dolphins. End of story.

Snarky Mularkey
In the tight end positional review, you said, "...and tight ends coach Mike Mularkey (man, it pains me to type his name) ..."

We heard that M. Mularkey took the demotion and stayed in Miami so his son could finish high school. If Shane is his son, I can see that he'd be disappointed to see his father's coaching abilities disparaged.

Regardless of his record at Buffalo and his lack of production in Miami, he had to have something on the ball to be chosen as a head coach in the first place. I am sure he's capable of being a good TE coach.

That said, Shane would obviously be better off in a different school. I'm guessing it's a public school, since private institutions generally do a better job of teaching spelling, manners and that sort of thing. Anyway, Shane, if you're reading this, learn to relax, to spell and to forgive those who insult you or yours. Plus, Matty might be a really BIG bitch! :)

He may have had something on the ball...
....but he failed as a head coach and as Miami's offensive coordinator.  Those are facts.

As far as "Shane" being his son, if anyone knows Mike Mularkey's son's name, let us know so!!

It's a worthless Jets fan having a good laugh at our expense.

could be....
...but that jet fan would have had to really plan this out and look up Mularkey's son's name and everything.

i would stake just as much
to believe that was actually from mularkey's son, as much as i believe that was truly kyle eckel that responded to your FB depth chart post.

Keep up the good work Matty.
