Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Around the AFC East: New York Jets

It's time to finish up going around the AFC East. Here is Jetfighter from NY Landing Strip:

Phinsider: What are your feelings on the Jets' corners? Having Andre Dyson as a #1 corner has got to be a cause for concern. And who do you expect to be the starter opposite Dyson? Will it be return specialist Justin Miller or career underachiever David Barrett?

NY Landing Strip: My feelings on the Jets' corners is that is won't be problematic. Dyson will hold down the 1 spot and I believe the fight for the second spot will be between Miller and Revis. Dyson is getting old, so in the future I hope so see the cornerback tandem of Miller and Revis, but that is a few years away.

Yes having Dyson as a 1 corner does give some cause of concern, but he is a pretty decent cover corner. He doesn't go stride for stride because his speed isn't there, but his technique and smarts allow him to compete with the best wideouts in the league.

As for the starter opposite Dyson, again I feel that it is Miller. Miller knows he has the intangibles and playing ability to play opposite Dyson, he just hasn't learned the position well enough yet. I feel that the selection of Revis in the first is a direct signal to Miller, either learn the position and play it well, or you are going to get beat out of the position and possibly look for a new team. I also look for competition from Barrett as well as journeyman Poteat, but the main battle will be between Miller and Revis.

My take: You know, I don't get it. A few weeks ago, Jetfigher asked me about Miami's corners and how Will Allen is not good enough to be a #1 corner. But then here he is saying Andre Dyson doesn't worry him too much. I don't know about any of you, but I'd take Allen over Dyson any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Let's just look at each team's corners. Miami has Will Allen, Travis Daniels, Andre Goodman, and Jason Allen. The Jets have Dyson, Justin Miller, David Barrett, and Hank Poteat. Both don't look all that great, but I'd have to say Miami's are better. Justin Miller is a great return man, but I've seen him get burned too many times to say he's better than Daniels. So I don't see how Jetfighter can question Miami's corners but then say he isn't too worried about his own team's corners.

Anyways, to see my response to his question, you can head on over to NY Landing Strip.

So that'll do it. As always, if you have a question you want me to use for future "Around the AFC East" segments, send it to phinsider@gmail.com.

Around the AFC East
Matt,
Just wanted to say I enjoy your blog, as you provide good information for the Dolphins. Being a Dolphin fan 2 hours from Seattle is difficult, but being a diehard is what being a fan is all about. What I wanted to tell you is I am proud of you for taking the high road when discussing topics with your AFC East counterparts. As typical Jets, Bills, and Patriots fans they resort to demeaning their opponents (namely the phins)...especially when you were on vacation. While you stayed the course of a proud franchise like the dolphins, you did not stoop to their level.
Keep up the good work
Sincerely
Todd

Thanks!
And as much as I'd like to put down our division rivals, I hold myself back and just hope that our team does the talking.
