Today's Inactives
Dolphins: LB Zach Thomas, WR Kerry Reed, RB Samkon Gado, DB Jereme Perry, DT Anthony Bryant, DE Rob Ninkovich, and DE Matt Roth
Eagles: RB Tony Hunt, QB Kevin Kolb, DB Marcus Paschal, G Max Jean-Gilles, DT Kimo von Oelhoffen, G Scott Young, DE Jevon Kearse, and DE Montae Reagor
3 Absolute Keys to the Game
1. Contain Brian Westbrook. He's the engine that makes this Eagles' offense go. Without Zach Thomas, the Dolphins must somehow find a way to keep Westbrook in check.
2. No big plays allowed. This Eagles' offense is not a high scoring machine, so don't make things easy for them. Don't allow Philly to pick up easy points on a bomb to Kevin Curtis or a screen pass to Brian Westbrook that goes the distance. Make them work for their yardage. I'd rather lose because the Dolphins allowed Philly to convert tons of 3rd downs rather than losing because the Dolphins gave up two 50+ yard scoring plays for easy points.
3. Make big plays. This Dolphins offense hasn't really made any big plays at all since Ronnie Brown went down. They need to somehow find a way to create the big play. Bomb to Ginn? Return by Ginn? Screen pass that goes the distance? End around? Whatever it takes. This offense is not good enough to consistently move the ball, so big plays are needed to create scoring opportunities.
Community John Beck Prediction: Here's what all of our predictions for Beck averaged out to: 14/24 for 174 yards 1 TD and 1 Int
Prediction: Dolphins stay in the game until the 4th quarter, losing 27-13.
GO DOLPHINS!!!!
**UPDATE**: So the Dolphins lose 17-7. We saw Ted Ginn get the first return TD of his career (that actually counted). John Beck played like a rookie. He made some good throws. He didn't turn it over at all, so that's good. He also would have had his first career TD pass if not for Aaron Halterman dropping the pass. All in all, I'm excited to see Beck's progress week in and week out. Much more coming later tonight. Until then, enjoy the rest of your day!

This has...
I think Ted Ginn finally makes a big play in this game, just a hunch, maybe on special teams.
I'll just throw out a prediction of 28-17 eagles winning, with a mostly competitive game being put away in the 4th quarter and the fins getting some good special teams play.
3 & outs
And the Dolphins get lucky break #1...
Jason Allen!!!!!
Thats 2

The stats aren't a fair way...
Right
One thing I like his abilty to move around in the pocket.
Cam is calling it safe though.
I don't think that was a drop so much...
First Half Over
Well
Nice job of the OL when it comes to blocking for Beck
87 yard
D-line still not quit there? D-backs shiny like a new penny!

Beck
Great play by our defense this game... although this feels a lot like the Buffalo game... good defense - enough to win - but no points by our offense.
Lets hope

I dont understand that playcall at all
I was hoping for the QB sneak...
on 4th, it wouldn't have been a good call cus they had to go 2 yards...I would have liked to see a roll out give Beck the pass/run option
Agree...
Don't know that the play call was good/bad/indifferent on the goal line - would have been nice had that guy caught the pass on 2nd or 3rd and goal, whichever down it was. (THAT should have been a TD - nice pass from Beck -> folks have to make plays though.)
You can question the play call on 4th down, but if we'd have blocked properly - might not have been an issue because Satele was pulling and was out front of Chatman. (Whether he is the one who blew the block or not, don't know...)
When he stood in the pocket and had time, he looked pretty good - threw a nice ball to Ginn over the middle and also one to Booker. Had the typical jitters, but if you consider where he played, how aggressive they blitz, the weather, etc. To have no TO's with the lousy field position they had all day, I think it was a real good learning experience for him. Tack that on to next week in Pitts...
I think he will be primed for the JETS coming in - hopefully Ricky will be here as well to help out.
Positives and Negatives on Personnel
-Beck: didn't turn it over, had the jitters, just needs to develop chemistry and timing.
-Ginn: showing more each week. They need to take at least a few deep shots to Ginn per game. He has to be one of the fastest guys in the league.
-Jason Allen: two picks and good tackling
-R Wright: looked pretty good and still not at 100% with that shoulder brace
-Satele, Carey, Hadnot: Solid all year
-Mauia "Juggernaut" leading the way for both Brown and Chatman
-Where is L Booker?
-Although injured this game, Matt Roth has a motor
Upgrades needed:
-Good NT
-Safety: Worrell puts up great effort but just lacks size and speed
-LB: we need more depth and playmakers
-Corner: although they played well today, they can't provide run support
-WR: another speed guy needed
-TE: Martin is not the answer
-DE: JT should only play a 3-4 LB. Teams are running straight at him with great success. JT should only be pass rushing from the outside or dropping back in coverage.
