The Matty's
The Return of the Matty's
After a year off, it's time for what many, many, many, many, many of you have been asking about - the return of the Matty Awards. These are an annual look at the best contributors to this site, and some of the best moments from the past year. All of the nominations and vote come from you guys. This is really your awards recognizing some of your favorite members in a series of different categories.
Named in honor of the founder of the Phinsider, the Matty Awards were first introduced for the 2008-2009 season. They returned the next year for the 2009-2010 season. However, last year, the awards fell off. But, I am happy to bring them back.
But, what are the categories? Here are the previously used categories:

'The Matty Awards' - Hall of Fame announcement
Well it's finally time. Last year, we inducted the first class into the Joe Robbie Memorial Phinsider Hall of Fame. And now it's finally time to announce who will be joining the class of 2009.
Again, it's important to stress how much of an honor it is to even be nominated, nevermind get inducted, for our Hall of Fame. Nearly 400 people took time out of their day to cast their ballot and vote for up to four of the many nominees. Those who are being inducted today all earned over 40% of the vote. That's something to be proud of, in my opinion. But below I've also listed everyone who received at least 10% of the vote. Why? Because I think it's an honor to have even earned that high of a figure considering the number of truly outstanding nominees on this year's ballot.
But enough of my rambling. Let's get to the official announcement...

'The Matty Awards' - Unveiling the winners, part 2
Time to continue on with announcing the winners of the 2nd annual 'Matty Awards.'
The next six awards and their winners are after the jump. And note that all of these awards had between 225 and 275 votes each.
'The Matty Awards' - Unveiling the winners, part 1
Well after all the nominating and voting, it's time to finally start announcing the winners of the 2nd annual 'Matty Awards.'
So we'll begin by unveiling the winners of the first six awards. The awards and the winners are all after the jump.
All of the awards below had between 250 and 300 votes - a noticeable improvement over last year's awards.
And congratulations to both the winners as well as the nominees. With there being over 3,000 members of this community, it's a huge honor to just be nominated.
With that said, let's get to the winners...
"The Matty Awards" - Hall of Fame voting
We've now wrapped up all of the voting for the 2nd annual "Matty Awards." But there's still one remaining item to take care of before we unveil the winners. It's time to vote for who gets into the Joe Robbie Memorial Phinsider Hall of Fame.
As corny as this might seem to some, I think this is a very special honor. This great site has become what it is today thanks to the many great members that make up our fine community. These awards - and the Hall of Fame in particular - are just ways to show appreciation and respect to those who spend a lot of their free time with us talking Dolphins football. And what makes everything so special is that they are voted on by all of you. There's no greater honor, in my opinion, than being recognized by your peers. And that is all these awards are - honoring our peers.
So, without further ado, let's talk about the Hall of Fame voting. There are many, many nominees. But only four, at most, will get in. You can vote for up to four nominees. We will induct the three who receive the most votes. We will also induct a fourth member only if that person was voted in by at least 40% of those who cast ballots. If the fourth place finisher doesn't receive at least 40%, then he does not get in.
The poll is below and you can vote for as many as four members. The poll will close on Saturday at 3 pm eastern. And as always, there's is no campaigning anywhere on this site. If you do, you will be removed from the ballot.
Good luck to those who were nominated!
"The Matty Awards" - Voting, Part 4
It's time for the conclusion of the voting process for the 2nd annual "Matty Awards." After these five awards, all that will be left to vote on will be the Hall of Fame. Then we can get to unveiling the winners.
The five awards we're voting on now are listed below. The official polls are after the jump.
The Davone Bess Little Guy Award - given to the best underage blogger (17 and under).
The Larry Csonka Old Guard Award - given to the best older blogger (40 and up).
The Patrick Cobbs Award - given to the hardest working do-everything blogger at the Phinsider.
The Zach Thomas Leadership Award - given to the blogger who best exemplifies sportsmanship and level-headedness when posting and commenting.
The Bill Parcells Award - given to the blogger with the most insightful and knowledgeable posts and comments.
The nominees and voting tool can be found after the jump (so as to not clog up the front page too much). Voting for these 5 awards closes on Tuesday at 10:30 pm eastern. Happy voting and good luck to the nominees...
Note: There is no "campaigning" within 100 feet of the polls (aka - anywhere on this website).
