Week 5 Open Thread

I saw Calvin at a bar last night and I asked him what he thought would happen tomorrow night when the Dolphins and Jets battle on Monday Night Football.  Above was his response.

Anyways, this is your open thread for all of Sunday's action.  Feel free to discuss whatever you'd like.

I'll be paying special attention to the Broncos/Patriots game at 4:15 ET today.  If the Broncos can pull off the win and the Dolphins can take care of their own business tomorrow night, Miami would be just one game behind both the Jets and Pats heading into their bye.  Not bad after a disappointing 0-3 start.  Needless to say, tomorrow's game is a big one for our Fins!

Enjoy your football Sunday, everybody!  And be sure to come back later tonight/tomorrow morning for my "keys to victory" post.

Week 4 Early Games Open Thread

The wait for the beginning of the "Chad Henne" era in Miami is almost over - but not quite.  Damn do I hate these late kickoffs.  Anyways, use this thread to discuss anything from the early games today or anything else you'd like to discuss.

Our thread for today's game will go up around 3:30.

The Dolphins will be without Joey Porter today.  He's listed as inactive.  The other inactives for the Dolphins are OT Andrew Gardner, QB Tyler Thigpen (3rd), WR Patrick Turner, TE John Nalbone, OG Shawn Murphy, S Chris Clemons, and DL Lionel Dotson.

Week 3 Early Games Open Thread

The wait will feel like forever to get to 4:15 today for kickoff of the Dolphins/Chargers battle.  Use this thread to discuss anything from the early games today or anything else you'd like to discuss.

In particular, all of us should probably be rooting for the Titans and Falcons during the slate of early games.

Our thread for today's game will go up around 3:30.

Today's inactives for the Dolphins are: QB Chad Henne, LB Erik Walden, OL Shawn Murphy, OL Andrew Gardner, DL Lionel Dotson, WR Patrick Turner, TE John Nalbone and DB Chris Clemons.

That means Cameron Wake will be active for the first time in 2009.  But with Walden inactive, will special teams take a hit?

Week 2: Sunday Open Thread

NFL WEEK TWO

As great as it is to play on Monday night, the downside to it is that our Sunday afternoon experience isn't quite as enjoyable.  But that doesn't mean there isn't plenty to watch today.  Outside of your various fantasy teams, there are a number of intriguing games.  They include:

Jets vs Patriots - Is this Jets defense really as good as they looked last week?
Eagles vs Saints - Can Drew Brees put up ridiculous numbers against a defense that is actually good?
49ers vs Seahawks - Which team will take the early NFC West division lead?
Bears vs Steelers - Can Jay Cutler rebound from his poor Bear debut last week?
Chargers vs Ravens - Without LT2, can San Diego move the ball on Baltimore's defense?

Lots of good stuff to watch today.  Feel free to chat about any of today's games below.  This thread will be up all day.

Bonus Video Time!

Since it's Labor Day, there's no use into doing a very long post.  Hopefully everybody is outside enjoying the unofficial end of summer.  So in place of a post, here's a bonus "Video Time."

The videos below are a collection of previous videos that I've posted.  It's essentially a "best of" from the past two years - a way to start some good karma flowing in anticipation of Sunday's season opener.

Enjoy the videos below and enjoy the holiday....

Dolphins Training Camp: Open Thread 8/15

The Dolphins have two practices today as they prepare for their preseason opener against the Jaguars on Monday. The first is at 10:15 am and is open to the public.  The second is set for 3 pm and is inside the bubble.

The kicking competition is getting very interesting, as Connor Barth again out-performed Dan Carpenter on Friday.  But the highlight if Friday's practice seemed to be Pat White's day - his best as a Miami Dolphin.  Hopefully he can build on his solid performance in both sessions yesterday.

John Nalbone has also been putting together some good practices this week.  He caught a TD pas with the first-team offense during goal-line drills yesterday from Chad Pennington.  And all week, he's shown much better hands than he did during OTAs and minicamps.  Joey Haynos should be worried, if you ask me.

Meanwhile, Chad Henne again failed to move his team down the field during the 2-minute drill in practice.  At what point do we get worried?  Just wondering aloud...

As always, use this thread for all of your training camp discussion.  As you find links to various practice reports, post them below.  I will update this post as time allows with links to the reports to keep everyone as updated as possible.

Dolphins Training Camp: Open Thread 8/14

So Michael Vick is an Eagle.  Eh - don't really care.

What I do care about are the Dolphins and their two practices today.  The first is scheduled for 9 am and the second at 5 pm.  It'll be interesting to see how Dan Carpenter bounces back after a rough day yesterday.  Could Connor Barth really beat out DC$?  I suppose it could happen if Dan doesn't get his head right in a hurry.

Dolphins Training Camp: Open Thread 8/13

The Dolphins practiced twice last night, including a rare 8 pm practice under the lights.  Today the Dolphins only have one practice and it's scheduled for 3 pm.

Yesterday, both Chad Pennington and Chad Henne were sharp from all accounts.  Ronnie Brown broke off a 70 yard TD run during the evening session.  And we saw some 'Wildcat' plays during the evening session that featured Ronnie at quarterback.  As for Pat White running the 'Cat - don't expect to see those plays in practices open to the public or during the preseason.  That's top secret stuff - but I'm sure it's being installed.

One other note - rookie linebacker J.D. Folsom seems to be making more plays now as he battles for at least a practice squad spot.  He's undersized but seems to have very good speed and quickness and has been getting into the backfield often during week two of camp.

Anyways, use this thread for all of your training camp discussion.  As you find links to various practice reports, post them below.  I will update this post as time allows with links to the reports to keep everyone as updated as possible.
