Miami Dolphins To Induct Jim Mandich Into Honor Roll During Raiders Game; Will Unveil Walk of Fame
The Miami Dolphins will induct former player and radio broadcaster Jim Mandich into the team's Honor Roll this Sunday. "Mad Dog" Mandich, who passed away this past April after a fight with bile duct cancer, won two Super Bowls with the Dolphins, and served as a member of the team's radio broadcast from 1992 to 2010.
The induction into the Ring of Honor will occur at halftime, with several members of Mandich's family, including his wife Bonnie, and his three sons Michael, Mark, and Nick, on hand. Also attending the ceremony will be Ring of Honor members Don Shula, Dwight Stephenson, Larry Little, Nick Buoniconti, Larry Csonka, Paul Warfield, and Bob Griese. Mad Dog's induction will bring the total number of inductees to 22.
Also being honored during the game are the Dolphins will be the riders from the Dolphins Cycling Challenge. The riders rose money to assist in the fight against cancer. The second annual ride was dedicated to Mandich's memory.
Prior to the game, the Dolphins will unveil the newly created Walk of Fame, located in Joe Robbie Alumni Palaza at Sun Life Stadium's Gate C. The Palaza is centered on the newly rededicated statue to Joe Robbie, and the initial members of the Walk of Fame will be Dolphins founder Joe Robbie, along with all of the team's Pro-Football Hall of Fame members: Shula, Stephenson, Little, Buoniconti, Csonka, Warfield, Griese, Jim Langer, and Dan Marino.
All of the festivities will be centered around the Dolphins' Week 13 game against the visiting Oakland Raiders. Oakland currently leads the AFC West with a 7-4 record. The Dolphins are in last place in the AFC East, with a 3-8 record.
Miami Dolphins Tickets Contest Brought To You By TiqIQ
The Phinsider's tickets sales partner, TiqIQ, has come up with a contest where you can win 2 tickets to the game of your choice - meaning you can see the Miami Dolphins in Miami, in Buffalo, or any other game.
Plus, TiqIQ has once again challenged each of the NFL blogs to see who can get the most entries.
During the first contest - where you "liked" the Phinsider Tickets Facebook page - we came in third. I think we can do better this time. So, get in there, make an entry, and let's see what we can do.
The instructions are in the above picture, but, basically, you enter by:
Good luck. Hopefully one of us can pull off the win - and maybe the Phinsider will walk away on top as well.
The Phinsider Miami Dolphins Tickets Contest
As was posted earlier this week, Phinsider user ricenbeans82 is offering two tickets to the Philadelphia Eagles at Miami Dolphins game next month. The game is the Week 14 contest on December 11th.
The tickets will be awarded to whomever picks the best against the spread for this Sunday's games. Last night's Jets at Broncos and Monday Night's Chiefs at Patriots games will be ignored. All you have to do to enter is leave your picks below.
All ricenbeans82 asks is that you please be able to attend the game - and please root FOR the Dolphins, not for the Dolphins' 2012 draft positioning.
In order to ensure there is only one winner, there will be two tie-breakers. The first will be to pick the final score of the Bills at Dolphins game. The second will be to pick the score of the Eagles at Giants Sunday night game. If the tie breakers are needed, I will go first by total points scored, then by closest to the actual score. Then move on to the second game. If everything is still tied, I will put all of the winners into a the radomizer at Random.org and the winner will be decided that way.
I will then ensure that both the winner and ricenbeans82 have the contact information for each other. Ricenbean82 will then mail the tickets to the winner.

Redskins at Dolphins - What to Watch For
The Miami Dolphins take on the Washington Redskins tomorrow afternoon in Sun Life Stadium, Miami. The Dolphins are coming off their first win of the season, and are hosting a slumping Washington team that is starting a cast off Dolphins quarterback, and looking for a spark, any spark, to rescue the season.
So, what should we expect from this game? Here are five things to watch tomorrow.
1. Miami Offensive Line. Last week, the Dolphins offensive line played better than they have all season. It started with All-Pro left tackle Jake Long apparently getting healthy, and flat out stonewalling Chiefs linebacker Tamba Hali all game, but it extended across the entire line, where even the much maligned Marc Colombo played like a starting right tackle. If the Dolphins can continue to protect quarterback Matt Moore, Moore will have the time to find the open receiver, and Miami will have another solid outing.
2. Miami Secondary. Cornerback Vontae Davis is apparently healthy for the first time this season, and is expected to start tomorrow. With him back in the lineup, it allows the Dolphins to pair up Davis and Sean Smith, leaving Will Allen at the nickelback position. That will free up rookie Jimmy Wilson to add depth at corner, and allow the Dolphins to play some match ups - a thing they were limited in doing the past few weeks without Davis. The safety positions should also see an upgrade, as there are no safeties listed on the injury report for the first time all season. Last year's starter Chris Clemons and this year's starter Reshad Jones should be sharing time at free safety, while captain Yeremiah Bell holds down the strong safety position. If the secondary can take the return of all these players and turn it into a pass defense that hasn't been in Miami most of the season, things could get bad for former Dolphins quarterback, and current Redskins starter, John Beck.
3. Daniel Thomas. Thomas saw limited action last week, coming in to spell starter Reggie Bush. Thomas only picked up 7 carries for 12 yards, but, his hamstring injury appears to be healed finally, and he should be ready to go this week. Thomas adds a bruising, between the tackles, running style to the finesse, explosiveness that is Bush. If the Dolphins can get both players moving this week, against the 25th ranked rush defense, it could be a really long day for the Redskins.

Miami Dolphins at New York Jets - Five Questions With Gang Green Nation
With the Miami Dolphins at New York Jets Monday Night Football game coming up in just a couple of days, I got together with John B from over at Gang Green Nation to find out about the 2011 version of the Jets.
The Phinsider: There has been a lot of talk lately about the Jets wide receivers complaining that the Jets are throwing the ball too much, and that they are disagreeing with the play calling. I think that's the first time I have ever heard a wide out complain about too much attention. What's really happening with this situation, and are the receiver actually correct?
Gang Green Nation: "Nobody aside from those in the locker room will ever really know. The team denies that report, but the beat writer who wrote it is probably the most credible the team has. I'm not sure it's a case that the team is throwing the ball too much as it is how the team is throwing the ball when it does. There was a stat that came out this week that close to 80% of the passes the Jets have thrown have been in the short zone. It is obvious just watching on television that corners are sitting on everything short. They aren't taking advantage of the speed Santonio Holmes has or Plaxico Burress' ability to win jump balls. Teams only have to defend the first 15 yards of the field against the Jets passing attack.
"Sure, you could blame the offensive line. Life without Nick Mangold for two and a half games made things rough. He was back last week, though, and Sanchez had a clean pocket most of the time against what was statistically the worst pass defense in the league. They were still sending receivers short on everything until they had to open things up down two scores in the fourth quarter. I read something this week that Santonio Holmes estimated he has run one double move all season. The Jets aren't trying to get it down the field."
