2013 Miami Dolphins Draft Prospects
Miami Dolphins 2012 Draft Grade: The Community Review
The Miami Dolphins' 2012Draft concluded on Saturday, and since then, most of the talk has been about the team's draft grade. On the Phinsider, we have taken a series of polls grading each individual draft pick, starting Monday morning with Ryan Tannehill and ending this morning with Rishard Matthews.
Using the grades given, and the immediate reaction to each pick that was posted as the picks happened throughout the draft, we not have an idea of how we, as a Phinsider community and as Dolphins fans, view the individual picks, and the overall draft, for Miami.
At the end of this, we'll see if you agree with the marks given.

Miami Dolphins 2012 Draft Grade - Rishard Matthews
We've finally reached the end of the MIami Dolphins 2012 Draft class, with seventh round pick Rishard Matthews. Matthews marks the second wide receiver for the Dolphins, after B.J. Cunningham's selection in the sixth round. Similar to Cunningham, Matthews is not going to explode down the field with blazing speed, but he is sure handed, and will be able to hang on to the ball when it's delivered to him.
Miami Dolphins 2012 Draft Grade - Kheeston Randall
The Miami Dolphins used their first pick in the seventh, and final, round of the 2012 NFL Draft to select University of Texas defensive tackle Kheeston Randall. Randall was projected early in his college career to be an early draft pick, but as his final season in college progressed, he fell further and further down draft boards. He will be used in a fashion similar to Paul Soliai, looked to clog up the middle of the line, and stuff the run, while allowing the end guys to pressure the quarterback.
Miami Dolphins 2012 Draft Grade - B.J. Cunningham
The Miami Dolphins came into the 2012 NFL Draft with a hole at the wide receiver position, and most people expecting them to target the position early on in the selections. Instead, the team grabbed their first wide out in the sixth round, bringing in Michigan State receiver B.J. Cunningham. While Cunningham will not be a speed threat receiver for Miami, his big body and route running ability could be valuable to a team that traded away Brandon Marshall this offseason.
AFC East 20120 NFL Draft Grades from SB Nation
Yesterday, SB Nation released their final AFC East Draft Grades with the video above. When I posted it as a Fan Shot, many people were vocally critical of Dan Rubenstein, who assessed the Miami Dolphins' draft. The major sticking point seemed to be Rubenstein's statment that new Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill could succeed in the right situation in the NFL, but that the Dolphins are not that situation.
Without expanding on how the Dolphins are not the right situation, Rubenstein then seems to blow off the rest of the Dolphins draft, liking the pick of Lamar Miller, but not a whole lot more for Miami. But, in order to get a better idea of what he meant in his assessment, I reached out to Rubenstein, asking him to if he would be willing to clarify a little more.
Miami Dolphins 2012 Draft Grade - Josh Kaddu
The Miami Dolphins added outside linebacker Josh Kaddu in the fifth round of the 2012 NFL Draft, looking to add a speedy player who can rush the passer, as well as chase down running backs. Projected as a third or fourth round draft choice, Kaddu comes to the NFL after being a captain for the Oregon Ducks last year, finishing the season with 47 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, and a first team PAC-12 recognition.
Miami Dolphins 2012 Draft Grade - Michael Egnew
The Miami Dolphins made two picks in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Earlier today, we looked at defensive end Olivier Vernon, who was picked early in the third. A little later, the Dolphins grabbed tight end Michael Egnew, who will be asked to fill the dynamic, pass-catching tight end role that's been vacant since Randy McMichael's departure.
Miami Dolphins 2012 Draft Grade - Olivier Vernon
With the 72nd overall draft pick, the Miami Dolphins select Olivier Vernon, defensive end, University of Miami. Vernon comes to a team needing a dynamic pass rushing threat to play opposite Cameron Wake, and the rookie could find himself filling that role nicely. Vernon was the first of Miami's two third round picks, and should be able to land a prominent role on the Dolphins' defense, if not the starting defensive end role.
