Former Miami Dolphins Safety Yeremiah Bell Signs With New York Jets
Former Miami Dolphins captain and starting stong safety Yeremiah Bell has signed with the New York Jets according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Bell had been the longest tenured Dolphin on the roster before his realease in March. He had been linked to the Philadelphia Eagles, Tennessee Titans, and Kansas City Chiefs before agreeing to join his former AFC East rival.
Bell is reunited with former Miami head coach Tony Sparano, who took over as the Jets' offensive coordinator this offseason.
"I know Yeremiah will really be missed in Miami," said Rosenhaus. "The Dolphins are really banking on some of the young safeties to step up this year."
Bell has topped the 100 tackles mark in each of the last four seasons, leading the Dolphins during all four of those campaigns. He had 107 tackles last year, along with two sacks and an interception. He had played for the Dolphins for eight years, having been drafted by the team in 2003. During his career, Bell has 560 tackles, 11 sacks, and 6 interceptions.
Miami released Bell, 34, after a 2011 season where it appeared, despite his tackle totals, he had lost a step. Bell was scheduled to make $6.2 million in 2012, with the Dolphins taking a $1.9 million salary cap hit to let the veteran walk away from the team.

Dolphins Sign Cunningham
The Miami Dolphins have signed wide receiver B.J. Cunningham.
Miami Dolphins Begin Signing Draft Picks
In an NFL where drat picks are slotted according to a rookie wage scale, and not dependent on the negotiating capabilities of their agents, the rush to start signing rookies is no longer a necessity. Instead, teams can work on other priorities, knowing the rookies are less likely to hold out under the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, since the holdout will not lead to more money. With that in mind, the Miami Dolphins have not been in a rush to ink deals with their 2012 Draft class.
But, those signings did start yesterday, with sixth round draft pick B.J. Cunningham agreeing to his four-year, standard rookie deal.
Cunningham is the all-time leader for Michigan State in receptions (218) and receiving yards (3,086) in his four years with the Spartans. Cunningham does not have elite speed, but is a solid route-runner with good hands. He should find his way onto the Dolphins' depth chart around the fourth or fifth wide-out position.
The Dolphins have eight draft picks left to sign, including first round pick, quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
Miami Dolphins All-Time Top 100 Players: 8. Bob Baumhower
Bob Baumhower was a 6'5" defensive lineman from Portsmouth, VA. During his collegiate career, he was twice selected to the All-American second squad while playing with the Alabama Crimson Tide. Miami picked him up in the second round of the 1977 NFL Entry Draft with the 40th overall pick. He would wear the number 73 jersey throughout his NFL career.
Baumhower started all 14 games of his rookie season at the nose guard position, making around 100 tackles. In a week 10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, he made a season high 12 tackles along with two sacks and a fumble recovery. In week 13, he made seven tackles, blocked a field goal and recovered two fumbles in a 14-10 loss to the New England Patriots. Miami posted a 10-4 record, missing the playoffs. The defense allowed 197 points on the season, the second lowest point total in the AFC.

Brandon Marshall Will Not Face Charges For New York Club Incident
New York City policed announced yesterday that they will not bring charges against former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall for a March fight at a nightclub in Manhattan, according to Marshall's attorney Harvey Steinberg.
Marshall was being investigated following allegations from a woman at the nightclub. The woman claimed Marshall had punched her in the face outside the club. Marshall, meanwhile, admitted to being at Marquee club during the incident, but repeatedly stated it was actually his wife who was attacked, having a bottle hit her in the face, leading to her having to be taken to the hospital.
"We maintained all along he is a victim and there is no basis to believe these charges," Steinberg told The Associated Press. "Brandon was the victim here and never did anything wrong. This confirms that."
Marshall spent two years with the Dolphins before being traded in March to the Chicago Bears. The New York City incident, which was known by both teams at the time of the trade, was first reported hours after the deal in which Miami received the Bears' 2012 and 2013 third round draft choices.

Military Veterans: What's Your Favorite Sports Memory From Deployment?
Memorial Day is coming up fast. In today's society, many people - often including the Soldiers who are serving right now - don't know the true meaning behind Memorial Day, or why we have the holiday. The holiday has been around since the end of the Civil War, and is meant as a way to remember, and say thank you, to the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen who have given the Ultimate Sacrifice in service to the United States. SB Nation wants to do something special to recognize the holiday.
So, we need the help of our veterans - and we all know you are out there. If you have served, or are serving, and deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, or anywhere else, we want the story of your favorite sports memory from that time. And, we want you to tell it.

NFL Playoff Teams - Who Misses Out?
A trend has developed within the NFL playoffs, one where about half the teams qualifying for the postseason tournament weren't there the previous year. Last year, exactly 50% of the teams were new, and this upcoming season, the same turnover can be expected.
With that thought in mind, the Phinsider community has determined which six playoff teams from last year are the least likely to make it back in 2012.
Before we go on, let's look at the 12 teams that were in the 2011 playoff bracket. First, the AFC:
- New England Patriots
- Baltimore Ravens
- Houston Texans
- Denver Broncos
- Pittsburgh Steelers
- Cincinnati Bengals
