Gase could be on to something.

Looking around at the number of players with surfacing injury reports this past week, I'm beginning to take stock in Gase's approach to that first rookie meeting he held. At first, I was taking a more wait-and-see kind of approach. Gase's "no contact, no drills, players are already beat down from working their way towards the combine and their pro days" approach appears to have saved us at least a couple of weeks worth of injuries from piling up.

The big question, though, is whether or not a physical first camp is causing the injuries, or simply bringing a pre-existing problem to the surface.

Perriman in Baltimore. Heuermann in Denver. Ramsey in Jax (after Fowler got it there last year). Lawrence in Dallas. Lawson on Buffalo. The list could go on, but I think you get the point. Rookies are getting hurt, or having injuries become more apparent in their very first camp, before they even have a chance to share the field with their veteran teammates.

Then again, perhaps there are conditions that occurred during off season training that only the field will reveal?

We still have yet to see if Coach Gase's new approach to rookie camp is a long term success, or not. At least from this point in time, it appears as if he could be on to something. Looking around at headlines and news over the last couple of days, I can tell you this. The rest of the league is taking note. It just may be that the youngest active Head Coach in the league, who hasn't been long steeped into traditions and "normal" thinking is leading the wave of the future. What do you think?
