GM for 1 day *First Round*

So, in less than 24 hours the 2015 NFL draft will begin, bringing probably the most hyped spectacle, aside from the Superbowl, into every NFL fans living room.

Many mock drafts have been completed, many "experts" have made their consensus for each pick, and though I am no "expert", I am a die hard Miami Dolphins fan. And like many fans around the nation, I will play GM for 1 day and bring you my draft plans if I am Dennis Hickey. So with out further ado, the Miami Dolphins are on the clock.

*Note* I will be making three picks for the first round of the NFL Draft. Each pick will showcase my pick if we were to Trade up, Stay put, & Trade down.

Round 1:

Option 1

*Trade Alert* Miami has traded the 14th pick along with a 2016 1st to the Washington Redskins for the 5th pick

Rd 1 Pick 5- Miami selects:

Kevin White - WR West Virginia

Now this pick may seem risky, in fact many people label him as a 1 year wonder and an NFL bust product, but believe this. Kevin White nearly 3 years ago was not playing College or HS football. Suddenly in 3 years he is arguably a top 5 pick in the NFL draft. Now there are measurements for a lot physical tools a player has, but 1 thing you can never measure is a players desire and drive. (I.E Dion Jordan, Tom Brady etc etc.) To go from not playing football, to in 3 years beating up on Alabama corners and schooling them. That is what we call "The Dog", the desire and drive to be something special. Is he worth a future 1st rd pick? Who knows, but if he can even be close to a Julio Jones he is worth it IMO.

*Alternate Pick*

NONE

To be honest I see nothing aside from a few OL prospects that Miami would trade up to get. OL is just not worth trading up for, especially if you are trying to get 2 wins to get from 8-8 to 10-6 and into the playoffs. No way I see Hickey or Philbin trading up for anyone other than Kevin White.

Option 2

Rd 1 Pick 14- Miami Selects

Todd Gurley - RB Georgia

Now this pick seems interesting, because he is coming of an ACL injury and is projected to be 100% by October, which by NFL standards now means he misses all of :

OTA's

Mini Camp

Pre-season

4 weeks regular season

However if you look at Miami's schedule, we don't play a franchise QB or a Super Bowl contending team until week 7 of the regular season and we have a bye week as well. That would give plenty of time for Gurley to heal 100%, and we have Lamar Miller which provides barring injury ZERO rush for him to come back before he is ready. Now I am no scout or expert, but Gurely reminds me a lot of a Jammal Charles that has the hitting power of Adrian Peterson. That thought instantly makes me salivate at the potential he could grow to.

*Alternate Pick*

DeVante Parker - WR Louisville

The guy would be a top 5 pick any other year, but is stuck behind guys like Cooper and White. A great leaping pass catcher, who is great against press coverage, he would be a plug and play WR2, competing with Greg Jennings during mini camp.

Option 3

*Trade Alert* The Detroit Lions trade the 23rd and a 3rd rd pick to Miami for the 14th pick.

Rd 1 Pick 23- Miami Selects

Jaelen Strong - WR Arizona St

I dare you to watch this kids tape and not immediately think of a younger Brandon Marshall. Now imagine him without the physiological issues Marshall had and better hands. Not only did Miami just get back a 3rd Rd pick (Which could get us a decent Guard or CB) but we just completed probably the most complete WR corps in the NFL. For bargain money. #Winning

*Alternate Pick*

Kevin Johnson - CB Wake Forrest.

Aggressive yet sound in his techniques, his only downside is run defense and tackling. Not a bad fit for Kevin Coyles defensive scheme. Not to mention great hands and a big hitter, you couldn't ask for much more from a late 1st rd CB prospect.

There you have it. If I were Dennis Hickey my big board would be like this:

1. Kevin White

2. Todd Gurley

3 DeVante Parker

4. Jaelen Strong

5. Kevin Johnson

Hope you enjoyed and please let me know what you think!
