Many Dolphins fans may have been too busy licking their wounds from last weeks drubbing at the hands of the Buffalo Bills to notice but division mates New York Jets were likewise embarrassed. After the Jets played to a 21-3 lead in the second quarter the Packers then held them to only 3 more points and 132 yards for the remainder of the game with the Jets losing 31-24 when all was said and done. The Jets secondary gave up 346 yards and three touchdowns to Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers in the loss. The Jets hope to get starting receiver Eric Decker back for this week after he left in last weeks 4th quarter with a hamstring injury. He will be a game time decision for the Jets. The Jets look to lean heavily on their offensive strength this year, the running game. The Jets are first in the NFL rushing the ball with a 179 yard average per game. Chicago comes in to the game this week having given up an average of 5.4 yards per carry on the ground in their first two contests.
In a mirror of what happened the the Jets the Bears were able to rally from being down 17 points in the second quarter to win on the road. After a week one loss at home to the hands of the Buffalo Bills the Bears bounced back in a come from behind win over the 49ers. Jay Cutler threw three touchdowns in the 4th quarter with two going to Brandon Marshall for his second and third of the game, pulling out the 28-20 win. Cutler, when playing in Monday Night Football games has thrown 14 touchdowns to only 3 interceptions for a 6 and 1 record. The Bears have suffered a rash of injuries this season playing without center Roberto Garz and left guard Matt Slauson. Las week also saw injuries to defensive tackle Jeremiah Ratliff, safety Chris Conte and cornerback Charles Tillman. The Bears hope to have Conte and Ratliff back this week but Tillman will not return this season. The Bears running game is also struggling coming in to week three. The Bears have rushed this season for 133 yards on 35 carries for a 3.8 yard average. The Jets lead the NFL in rushing yards allowed at only 53.5 yards per game for a 2.8 yard average.
