My 10 Impressions versus Dallas

Mike Ehrmann

Watching the game tonight on the NFL network has me thinking a few things.

1. Wallace and Tannehill never look like they're on the same page regarding where the ball should be thrown on a deep route. The shot they took looked like either Ryan expected Mike to keep jetting up the sideline, or that Mike thought he was supposed to be running on the inside of the corner. Either way, it's scary that they don't have it corrected yet.

However I am satisfied with Wallace's stat line from the game. He was getting open. He caught the balls in his vicinity. He moved chains. He needs to put some points on the board.

2. Knowshon looked like a beast. I will keep this in context, however, knowing that he was running against a terrible Dallas defense. This makes me feel like Daniel Thomas will not be on the opening day roster.

3. Lamar Miller just doesn't have it. He's not a starting running back in the NFL. Sure, a good change of pace back... But not a starter. He can't catch the ball out of the back field and cannot break a tackle.

4. It's so good to see Charles Clay back in action. He blew by the line backers like they were standing still. He will have a great season.

5. The offense as a whole will maintain a lot of possession time this year barring turnovers. We moved the ball well, and did it consistently. it would've been nice to see those drives end with points.

6. It looks like the run defense is figuring itself out. Misi obviously didn't play, but I didn't miss him. Tripp played extremely well while filling it. It seemed like he was flying around and was always around the ball.

7. Philip wheeler is our best blitzing linebacker. Creates chaos when blitzing but is a liability in pass (defensive holding) and run defense (dude cannot tackle. He gets bullied by everyone...although this game was a bit better.)

8.Finnegan and grimes can be a fantastic duo. Knocking on wood, it looks like Finnegan has a chip on his shoulder. I hope it continues to rub of on Jamar and Will.

9. Dion might just be a bust. I know that's no revelation but he isn't liking worth the third overall pick at all. I have not seen one thing that has made me think "special talent." This isn't obviously just based on this game but I'm tired of waiting to see something.

10. This team has talent. It's an extremely deep team and the cuts will be players who make other teams rosters. I'm excited for what is going on in Miami. I usually have the high but unrealistic hopes before the season starts... But this year it feels different. It feels like the players believe that they have to fight for a roster spot; like it's not just the starters and everyone else. This is the year that we are flying below most radars and have a true chance for a deep playoff run.

What are your thoughts? I know not everyone will agree, so I'm interested in what you have to say.
