It's been a long three days, with the 2014 NFL Draft opening on Thursday night and ending Saturday night. Throughout the process, the Miami Dolphins were able to select eight new members of the club, bringing in players at need positions like offensive tackle and tight end, as well as a couple of "luxury" or best player available picks. How did Miami do during the three days? We will of course debate that every day for the next few weeks - and revisit it throughout the year, after the year, and before next year's Draft.
SB Nation's Mocking the Draft gives us our first look at 2014 NFL Draft Grades, with Michael Fairburn looking at all 32 teams.
The Dolphins started the Draft with seven picks, then traded back twice in the second round to add an additional pick in both the fourth- and fifth-rounds. They then turned around and traded a fourth round pick to move up in the third round. By the end of the process, Miami had drafted eight players:
19th - Ja'Wuan James, OT, Tennessee
63rd - Jarvis Landry, WR, LSU
67th - Billy Turner, OT, North Dakota State
125th - Walt Aikens, CB, Liberty
155th - Arthur Lynch, TE, Georgia
171st - Jordan Tripp, LB, Montana
190th - Matt Hazel, WR, Coastal Carolina
234th - Terrence Fede, DE, Marist
Turning to Fairburn's grade, he writes:
Grade: A-
The No. 1 priority for Miami in this draft was upgrading the offensive line. Billy Turner and Ju'Wuan James will help keep Ryan Tannehill upright. After a successful first three rounds, the Dolphins took some chances on quality sleepers like Jordan Tripp and Matt Hazel. Hazel is a smooth route runner, who along with Jarvis Landry should help the Dolphins' passing attack early on. Landry in particular should get on the field from day one. Tannehill has to be happy with what Miami did this weekend.
How do you feel about the Draft from the Dolphins? Do you agree with Fairburn?
