I'll start by saying that I was not a huge fan of the Cortland Finnegan signing. I think we overpaid for a declining player, but I also like his aggression. Maybe we'll get lucky and he returns to 2010 form... and at the very least, we're adding a fiery, physical veteran. But Finnegan also brings some baggage. He hasn't performed very well the past couple season's and he was released by his long-time head coach, Jeff Fisher. That concerns me... injuries along with declining play.
After seeing what the Jets signed Dimitri Patterson for (1 year $3 mil vs Finnegan's 2 yrs $11 mil), this is my biggest complaint about GM Hickey's free agency period. I know Patterson has also struggled to stay healthy, but when he has been healthy he has been a solid-to-very good CB. Definitely a playmaker when he is in the game.
I like the Shelley Smith signing. Athletic o-lineman on the rise.
I like the Earl Mitchell signing. Young, penetrating DT.
I like Moreno. Alot. Solid pass blocker and familiar running in a zone blocking scheme.
I'm not a fan of Finnegan. Even less now that Patterson went to NYJ for such a low price.
