Its a little weird to think about how much of this guy's college highlights were actually at the WR position or with his hands on the ball as a running(dare I say Wildcat) QB. I am anxious to see what Lazor can do with that. Maybe we line up week 1 against the Patriots and we have Matt Moore and Ryan Tannehill on the field, Tannehill trots towards the Dolphins sideline.. only he doesn't leave the field but he lines stops and lines up at Z... no one is covering him... obviously... he is the QB right? Matt Moore to Ryan Tannehill- TD. Could this be the Tannehill equivalent of the "fake spike" executed by "The Great One"?
For those of you who think this guy has hit his ceiling remember that Aaron Rodgers was considered a developmental prospect as well. He sat for 3 years behind Brett Favre, and by all reports was awful right up until the last year when the Packers decided to move on from Favre. If Tannehill follows the same arc, we would expect at some point this year to see him start making strides... But we really didn't see Rodgers play until year 4, so even if Tannehill is awful at the end of this season... there is still a chance that he develops... Relax people.. not every Dolphins QB has to be Dan Marino.
Give him some protection up front, and continue to surround him with playmakers... then lets take a deep breath and give him a good year to see if we see what we hope we will see. We can not judge him by Marino's standard.. Just because he is not the greatest passer of all time, doesn't mean we should move on from him. He could be a Hall of Fame QB and still not be Dan Marino.... so lets just give him some time to develop. And if he goes all the way through this season and doesn't break every passing record known to man... well .. maybe we can let that blaring failure slide and just be happy that Cleo Lemon isn't behind center anymore...
