The argument for Louis Nix

Nix will almost certainly not be the Dolphins first round pick, but an argument could be made that he would be an excellent pick. Miami has moved to a 4-3 D which emphasizes smaller (not small) DT's and with Mitchell, Odrick and Starks they have 3 players that can fit that role. But like most defenses, although their base D is 4-3, they run a lot of 3-4 as well. With Solai gone, they don't have anyone that is a good fit for a 3-4 defense. Nix would fit that role very well. In addition, I believe he has enough quickness to play the 4-3 DT role. A lot of teams running a 4-3 have one of the DT's in the bigger, run stuffer role not dissimilar to the 3-4 NT role. What makes him intriguing is the versatility he would give the D. With Nix and Odrick or Starks out there along with Vernon, Wake, Ellerby, Jordan and Misi, Miami can run 3-4 or 4-3 with the same personnel, which makes Jordan more viable as an every down player and leaves opponents unsure what defense we are running.
