Hey guys! Remember me? It's that wonderful time of year again where we, as fans, get to imagine an unlimited possability of moves to eventually get our team into the big game; that being the superbowl. Now there are unquestioned holes on our Offensive Line as our O-line play last year was... well... offensive. Now I believe that there is a smart way to fix it where we can still address "wants" this offseason. Right now we have Center locked up in Pouncey, and we need 2 guards and 2 Tackles. I propose finding the inexpensive option to fill them. What is the least expensive position in football? Offensive Guard. With that being said let's start with Cuts.
Matt Moore- his Cap number for next year is rediculous for a backup QB
Dimitri Patterson- love his play but too unreliable in the injury category.
Jonathon Martin- not getting into the scandal. But we cut him.
Daniel Thomas- I hate watching this guy run. He needs to go.
That being said, I don't know what our CAP number is looking to be, but after cuts I'm going to assume it's going to be between 35 and 40 million to play with. Now on to resignings.
Paul Solai- he is a run stopper in the middle. He is getting up there so give him 5-6 million a year for 3 years. Let Starks walk.
Chris Clemons- Clemons was one of our most solid players; resign him for 3 years at 4 million a year.
Brent Grimes- He is one of the best in the buisness even being 30 and coming off an injury. Resign him to 8-9 million a year for 3 years.
Bryant Mckinney- I am signing him because he is a MONSTER. At times this year he performed more than admirably. He needs to be kept and given a whole offseason and year he will serve as a servicable LT for cheap. 1 year, 3 million.
I also like resigning Carroll, Yeatman and other depth players but I won't make a writeup about them. That's it for resignings...
or is it?
Richie Incognito- yes, I am resigning Incognito. Why, you ask? Because our whole team stood behind Richie in the recent scandal. Our whole team admires him. He is our leader and he needs to be resigned. Why else? BECAUSE HE WILL BE CHEAP. 1 year contract for 2-3 million dollars. 2-3 million for a very good former pro bowl guard? I'll take it. If not he will go to the Bengals or something cause that's where players with off the field issues go because they aren't afraid of them.
That leaves us with 9-14 million left to play with. We currently have RG and RT to fill. I am signing a quality RG in FA and I will not write it up because I don't reallty feel like doing research on it. We go into the draft with 6-11 million left. Filling all of our holes in the Line other than RT.
Round 1- Eric Ebron, TE, UNC- Ebron gives our offense EXPLOSION. my next option would be either Evans, Amaro, or Benjamin.
Round 2- Best RB available- I am not a scout so I'm not going to try to pick from the available RB's. But we need a RB to give our Running game life. I like Mason. I also like the guy from Boston College. He was a complete college workhorse.
Round 3- Best OT available- Compete to fill our RT spot.
Round 4- Best DT/LB available- depth/ competition
Round 5- Best DT/LB available depth/ competition
Round 7- best QB, or DB available- depth
This way our Line would look like this:
McKinney-Incognito-Pouncey-FA RG(high quality)- Rookie RT
Playmaking rookie RB
