Seriously, this should be number one priority. No questions asked. Without him our secondary is nothing. A good 2-3 year contrack averaging 6 million should suffice. Also, gives us some time to find his replacement. Or develop his replacement ( Taylor, Davis, Carroll)

2) Paul Soliai - DT

Another no brainer. What would our defense be without some meat on the inside? It is either Soliai or Starks, and we already have Starks 2.0 in Odrick. We also have a promising prospect in A.J Francis. Another 2-3 year contract for about 3-4 million a year. For what he offers im sure itll be worth it.

Some may think this is a mistake, but with our O-Line Mckinnie brings stability and leadership on the left side. He should get a one year contract, worth about 1.5 – 2 million. This also lets us have one more year to figure out what to do with that spot.

He has started 32 straight games for us, and has been at least our second best offensive lineman last year for the whole year. Clabo came back strong, but it was at the end of the year and he is obviously second to Pouncey. 1 million a year sounds good for 3 years.

He had his one year to prove himself, and I think he earned it. Give the guy a couple of more years averaging 2-3 million and he will pay us off big time. The chemistry he has with the secondary already and even though Michael Thomas gets the DPW against the pats, it really was Clemons that showed him where to play. I would think he is just as much as a priority than Grimes is.

Currently with the Ravens, Oher is looking for a bigger contract. I’m not so sure the Ravens will have money to resign him, and with our money, I think I’m comfortable with Oher containing the right side for the next 4-5 years all averaging 5-6 million a year. With this signing, there are only 2 spots to fill on the O-line for next year. Or is there?

This may be a pipe dream, but the Saints focus this offseason will be Jimmy Graham, Vilma, and Jenkins. Those three guys will want some healthy contracts leaving someone out in the dust. I think it will be this guy. I think adding this guy to our center and have Pouncey bust out at LG would take care of our interior for a few years. 4-5 Year contract averaging 5-6 million should be enough to bring him over.

After Free agency

So we solidified the D-line (kind of) and spent some money on the O-line. Out of the $33,081,861 cap we have, ~22 million spent in free agency. I’m sure Ms. Aponte will work her salary cap magic. Mostly on the o-line, but that’s where the biggest holes are right?

Draft time

1st round Prospects –

Eric Ebron – TE North Carolina - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GgY1-xjk4E

Jace Amaro - TE Texas Tech - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fpa9ITVamVI

We get our Jimmy Graham. I want a Jimmy Graham. And Jimmy isn’t going to be a free agent like I want him to be this year. Really like Ebron, but I feel like with a good combine he might go top 10. So that leaves us with Amaro. I would be happy with both, but this lets us run a 3 WR and 2 TE set empty backfield with plenty options. With free agency we solidify the line somewhat so one of the 5 guys will get open.

Trade down – out of first round

Trade out of the first round. Pick up picks for next year. I could see this happen with the new GM and preparing for the worst for next year. Such as if we had a bad year, high draft pick and two first round draft picks or a few picks in the second round.

2nd round prospects –

Chris Borland – ILB Wisconsin - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mK-dDWAdRRo

This guy got a lot of hype from the senior bowl. A little undersized but his instincts are phenomenal. Wait, am I talking about Zach Thomas? Oh, nope still the little guy from Wisconsin. Pick him up and drop Wheeler. Put Ellerbe outside and were looking at a productive Linebacker corps.

Antonio Richardson – T Tennessee - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yYmrqbUMOg

We did spend a lot of money in free agency on offensive lineman. Yet, there are still holes. Such as a Left tackle and right guard. This will hopefully take care of the tackle spot.

3rd Round prospects –

Terrence Brooks – FS Florida State - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8yfj8MpI-A (Got it for highlights. You can mute the bad music)

In state prospect, former cornerback. Looks to make the big play as that is what we need at the FS. Can compete with Clemons after a year or two.

Dominique Easley – DT Florida State - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMhd__Dkoh0

We would be soooo lucky to nab him the third. Like, amazingly lucky. Im thinking the season ending Knee injury haunts him and becomes a third round pick. Thinking, hoping whatever. Another in state product that I would love to have in a Phins uniform.

4th Round Prospects –

James Hurst – T North Carolina - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41ow8gODsPg

With a broken leg in the bowl game, I think his draft stock drops. Athletic tackle. Can hold his own if healthy. Was probably a top two round pick, before the leg injury.

James Gayle – DE Virginia Tech http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BY2TX9clKU

A good pass rushing prospect. Someone to develop as Cameron Wake gets to the end of his time in Miami. He, Vernon, and Jordan will terrorize the AFC, if coached correctly.

5th Round Prospects –

Taylor Hart – DT/DE Oregon - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWE68M4sIIg

The highlight shows the bigger issue with hart. The way he lines up is weird. On his heels instead of his toes. I played O-line and D-line in highschool. Never did I do that because whenever I did, I would get pushed off the line of scrimmage, which happens in the highlight. A good prospect because he did line up as a DE, DT, and a LB. So he versitale, coachable, and played on a winning team.

DeDe Lattimore – ILB S. Florida - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8T-v3jroXns

Tackling machine at S. Florida. Had 42 more tackles than any other player on defense this year for the Bulls. Another in state product to challenge the inconsistent linebackers we already have.

De’Anthony Thomas – RB/WR Oregon - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ulHw2C3geo

The Tavon Austin of this years draft. He probably wont last this far but his size might let him drop. But he is a tack athlete and is oh so dynamic. Worth a pickup in the later rounds.

6th Round Prospects –

Shaquelle Evans – WR UCLA - Shaquelle Evans - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11UIRJWZWmM

Good route runner. Good at getting YAC. Decent in size. Wont wow you in his speed. A typical late round prospect.

L’Damian Washington – WR Missouri - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIngLBgVge4

Big, unpolished wide receiver. Give him time so he can get better at route running. I know not many prospects come out of Missouri, but at least he isn’t a third rounder tight end.

7th Round Prospects –

Tyler Gaffney – RB Stanford - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2cX4E9HUGI

Guy ran his heart out at Stanford. Can be the short yardage back we have long lived for.

Storm Johnson – RB UCF - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsZjjZCUy4M

Guy transferred from Miami to UCF with the emergence of the other Johnson (Duke). Guy is a good runner with potential.

After the draft summary

Now we didn’t really address the running back position until the end of the draft and didn’t look into it in free agency. There is a reason for that. I believe the running backs were not the problem. When we ran the football, we ran it well. We just didn’t run it enough. And when we made it obvious we were to run it, our line couldn’t step up. I think it was due to poor O-line play and a lack of a true fullback. Using a guy who is inexpierenced as a blocker and sat out a year to learn isn’t good enough (Egnew). But with the new offence I guess we will be seeing a lot more of single back/empty backfields. Also, this draft falls in line with what Philbin likes to do as a coach, which is red shirting players a year. Only a couple of the players in the "mock draft" could start asap. Most on the O-line. The TE isn’t a number one priority. But I think it’s a great pick due to the lack of play making ability. We could start one of them and move Clay to be more of a FB than a TE. And still be threating as a passing team for what Clay did this past year. With the Linebacker core being signed through the next few years we can play the rookies on special teams… again.

Well this is pretty much my number two mock draft but my first with the free agency. Lemme know how I did.
