Ok guys and ladies, I have a concern for my beloved Dolphins and I'm hoping fans can lessen my concern. As a retired police detective I tend to look at the big picture then break things down into more manageable sections but reading between the lines has served me well through out my career of 32 years. Unfortunately I do not keep up as much as I should with NFL personnel from other teams aside from what I read here.
Let me first of all say I like coach Joe a lot as a person and he certainly has the credentials to be a great head coach, however; small snipits of insight seem to suggest perhaps some players are not willing to return to play for the current coaching staff - if true that would also mean coach Joe. If this is true, why? I understand he is still learning the head coaching job but I have seen some improvement this past year with time management etc. am I just fooling myself? Are these players key to Dolphin success in the next few years? I don't know. If this is true, will it hamper attempts to bring in great FA?
The recent hiring of Hickey as general manager with other seemingly more qualified candidates opting out of the hiring process seems to suggest my team (our team) may have become a bit toxic in its attempt to build a winning formula in the next few years, IMHO. Having no knowledge of Hickeys contribution to Tampa bay it's hard for me to get excited over the current situation and if he turns out to be worse than Ireland will Ross give him several more years to prove himself? The turn over rate of football GMs doesn't seem to be that of head coaches.
If the there is truth (and it seems to be so) to the rumor several players do not want to play for this coaching staff - how many is several? If players who remain under contract feel the same way, how hard are they going to play for the current coaching staff in the next few years if coach Joe and his staff remain? Hopefully their concern was with the x offensive coordinator but doesn't sound like it. I hope I am wrong but it seems to me the needs are much greater than the turnstile offensive line we had last season. I shudder to think the Dolphins will continue to lose to below average teams like the Jets and Buffalo next year. With the schedule for next year, does anyone believe Miami has a chance to do better than 8-8 next season? Thank you and I sure hope my team can prove me wrong. GO DOLPHINS!!!
