An ESPN report indicates that the Detroit Lions have hired Philadelphia Eagles QB coach Bill Lazor as their new Offensive Coordinator. Lazor had been interviewed for the same job with the Miami Dolphins.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach Bill Lazor had been on the Miami Dolphins' radar as a potential replacement for departed offensive coordinator Mike Sherman. However, an ESPN report from Ed Werder indicates that is no longer an option thanks to the Detroit Lions:

Lazor was one of the first interviews completed for the Dolphins' OC spot. However, the team then interviewed Kyle Shanahan, Gary Kubiak, and Ben McAdoo, and any momentum toward Lazor being hired seemed to have vanished.

Earlier today, the Lions had announced the hiring of Jim Caldwell as the newest head coach for the NFC North franchise. Adding Lazor to Caldwell's staff fills the need for an offensive coordinator in Detroit, however Caldwell leaving the Baltimore Ravens' staff opens a new OC position there.

The Dolphins are being very deliberate in their search for a new offensive coordinator, as well as in their concurrent search for a new General Manager. McAdoo, currently the Green Bay Packers' quarterbacks coach, is considered the favorite for the job, though Kubiak, the former Houston Texans head coach, is said to have had an impressive interview.
