Koa Misi signed to a 4-year contract extension through 2017

13

Koa Misi has dealt with position changes nearly every year he's been in the NFL. He spent his rookie year as a 3-down 3-4 OLB. He spent his sophomore year as a 2-down 3-4 OLB, with Jason Taylor replacing him on passing downs. He spent his third year as a 2-down 4-3 OLB, coming off the field in nickel packages, and things started to come together for Misi. He was rated the 9th-best OLB in the NFL at stopping the run by ProFootball Focus. While there was talk in the offseason in moving him to MLB, for now, he'll get to enjoy a repeat of his role from last year. Also, this likely means the team does not see Dion Jordan as a guy who should be spending significant time at 4-3 OLB on running downs, at least for now, given that we now have 3 starting linebackers under contract for several years, which limits the number of snaps Jordan could spend as an LB. Jordan is likely being groomed to become a 3-down DE.
