I have been visiting my brother in Cooper City, who is not much a football fan, along with his Eastern European wife and his 9 year old son. Suffice it to say, I was not expecting them to say that they had printed up tickets to go to Dolphins training camp. Still, my nephew goes to camp and school at Nova, so they have been passing by them practicing all the time. In the end, for better and for worse, there were 9 of us (including two 9 year olds, a 5 year old and 2 year old) going to the practice with only one real football fan... me. I had fun, although I did not get to watch the way I wanted to. Don't expect any camp observations in this post. Just some photos taken between bouts of a 2 year being grumpy from getting up from a waaaayyyy too late nap.
There is the family:
My wife of 11 years, who had fun and said she would prefer practice to a game (sans kids who cut her visit short). I got her that shirt today, she gave me a dubious look until I told her it was a gift to her for me...
and my daughter, who was really unhappy until she started to wave frantically saying that she wanted to meet "that dolphin over there" (she also refuses to look at the camera. This was the best shot I could get, and she is still squinting a bit)
I didn't get any photos of my son, who would cry when he saw the camera and demand to play with it.
And, now to the team:
I could barely watch with any real intent, but I got some photos I hope are nice
The big boys were the first to come near where we were sitting
(Note Jordan's wingspan)
A bit of action on the other side of the field: don't remember who this was (Possibly McNutt, who had some nice catches)
Football is a harsh sport. I didn't see what happened, if he was hurt or if this was just nausea, bit Ellerbe looked a bit out of it. Of course, he came back strong later
I love football. It was great just to see the team lined up and ready to play.
It was unfortunate not seeing our starting WRs line up for practice. Hartline stood between fields all evening and Wallace did some work but nothing major
All types lurk these parts...
Tyms made a nice catch in 1 on 1s
Our Long snapper, a perennial probowler. I am a big fan of his and Brandon Fields (who was awesome at practice)
and finally, the best unit in the Dolphins Org
The amazing thing is they just looked up smiled and looked perfect...
Sorry I couldn't tell you more than this. I saw Lamar Miller actually block a blitzing DB. I saw mixed results from Martin. But, I had fun even though I had to leave early because the 9 year old was bored.
