In light of the recent developments in the Hernandez situation it has gotten me to start think about how the NFL and teams should discipline the players. I for one am sick and tired of hearing the stories year in and year out about players getting arrested for alcohol, gun charges, and the multitude of other things. In my honest opinion the league and teams are not tough enough on the players for their own actions. In this day and age there is no reason to put yourself in those kinds of situations that can cause you to do harm to yourself or to others.
I think it's compete non-sense that neither the league nor the teams really do anything until after a investigation is over. What the league should be doing is setting rules for certain actions like this and others that they are suspended without pay until the conclusion of the investigation. The players need to realize that they have one of the greatest opportunities in the world to play a professional sport. It just seems like today there are multiple players that have no respect for the team, league or the fans that come to see them each and every year. There is no reason that any player should put themselves in these situations, I mean how hard is it to really look at a situation and think is this a good idea or not. So far this year there has been more than 30 arrests made in 2013, just seems like that is just way to much to have in a league that is so concerned with player safety maybe they should be looking more at what they players are doing off the field.Maybe it's just my military or police background but the league and teams just seem way to easy on the players.
Maybe I am wrong but that's just my thoughts on the situations that we seem to hear about year in and year out.
