The Miami Dolphins have selected safety Don Jones from Arkansas State with the 250th overall pick, bringing their 2013 NFL Draft to a close. After starting the draft process with 11 total picks, Miami ultimately used the draft to add nine players to their roster.
The Dolphins will now turn their attention to signing priority undrafted free agents. Players signed by the team now could simply be camp bodies, coming in to fill the Dolphins' 90 man training camp roster. But, they could also find a player like Davone Bess, who had a great five years with Miami before being traded during the draft this year to the Cleveland Browns.
Last year, Miami signed defensive end Derrick Shelby and guard/center Josh Samuda as undrafted free agents who made the 53-man roster. On the practice squad, the team also had undrafted free agents defensive tackle Chas Alecxih, wide receiver Jeff Fuller, and wide receiver Brian Tyms. Running back Jonas Gray and safety Kelcie McCray were also signed as undrafted free agents, spending the year on the physically unable to perform list and injured reserve, respectively.
