2013 Dolphins Rumors: Branden Albert trade talks on hold

Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE

The Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs have put any further trade talks that would give Miami offensive tackle Branden Albert on hold until after the first round of tonight's NFL Draft.

The Kansas City Chiefs appear set to select Central Michigan offensive tackle Eric Fisher with the first overall pick in tonight's NFL Draft. With that pick, incumbent, and franchise tagged, tackle Branden Albert will officially be excess baggage for the Chiefs. However, the long rumored trade between the Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins won't happen in the early portions of the Draft tonight.

The Dolphins are thought to be looking for a way to move up and grab Luke Joeckel, assuming the Chiefs don't grab him. That would ruin the Chiefs hopes of unloading the $9.8 million salary cap number Albert currently represents on the Dolphins.
