Chiefs released OT Eric Winston tonight.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 7, 2013
This is per Adam Schefter of ESPN. Winston had his best seasons as a right tackle for the Houston Texans, who use a zone-blocking scheme similar to Miami's. He should be on the Dolphins' radar in free agency. He was about to enter the second year of a four-year, $22 million contract he signed last year. He was the 26th ranked OT (9th ranked RT) in the NFL last season with the Chiefs and the 10th best OT in the NFL (6th best RT) the year before with the Texans according to ProFootball Focus. He was reportedly on the Dolphins radar last offseason. His release is believed to be due to the Chiefs franchise tagging their left tackle and wanting to get younger and cheaper at right tackle by addressing tackle in the draft.
