Decisions decisions...

We have the 12th overall pick, and to me that's a dead end. Is there a player worth the 12th overall pick that will vastly improve our team? I don't think so. All of the ESPN analysis people think that we will try to trade up for a Tackle, but I think that if we trade up it will be for Alabama's Dee Milliner. I know that the Dolphins' staff want Jonathan Martin at Left Tackle so if we draft a Tackle, it won't be until the 2nd round, there are great prospects in the 2nd like Menalik Watson and Terron Armstead that prove greater value than trading up for an "elite" tackle prospect that we may already have in Jonathon Martin. So that leaves us with trading up for Dee Milliner right? wrong.

Dee Milliner is a Corner that is way overvalued in my opinion. There's a reason Alabama Cornerbacks have a history of busting, the rest of their defense is so consistent that the CB's never get picked on, it's different when Corner prospect is the best player on a not dominating defense. Milliner can play zone and man both pretty well, topped off with the fact that he lacks elite ball skills leads me to believe that he isn't worth a trade up. So let's look at the other possible 1st round CB prospects. Xavier Rhodes and Desmond Trufant, two very different players.

Rhodes is big, tall, fast. It's everything you look for in physical attributes in a Corner. However, Rhodes can be extremely physical, to the point that will be very hard to coach out of him. I truly believe that in the NFL he will be penalized consistently, and we already have our own flag-machine in Nolan Carrol. Rhodes is a man-coverage specialist, he is very inexperienced playing zone, which isn't good, seeing as how our scheme will require a lot of zone-coverage, so all of this leads me to believe Rhodes isn't the right fit, especially since we would probably have to stay at 12 to get him.

Trufant doesn't have the size or height that Rhodes has, but if he did he would undoubtedly be ahead of Dee Milliner. Trufant is more of a technical specialist, he has experience playing well in both zone and man-coverage, he does have elite speed, tied with Dee Milliner. In my opinion Trufant had a better workout at the combine than Milliner did. Just as I think that Milliner is way overvalued as a top-5 pick, I think Trufant is way undervalued as a late 1st round pick. I don't understand why people aren't high on him. We could trade down to the mid 20's and get him with an extra 2nd round pick in our pocket.

ROUND 1 pick 12: Trade down- Desmond Trufant

With this, we have a pro-ready starting corner that might develop to be elite, 3 2nd round picks, and 2 3rd round picks. In the 2nd round I would like to target Zach Ertz, David Amerson, and Menalik Watson. Ertz is perfect to combine with Keler for a great 1-2 punch, Amerson I truly believe will return to the form of his Junior season and become an Elite NFL Cornerback, and if not he can always move to FS next year if we don't resign Chris Clemons, and Menalik Watson will be a great RT in the NFL I think.

What do you guys think of this draft, concluding our offseason? Would you rather trade up for Milliner? Or maybe stay at 12 for Rhodes? Or maybe someone else?
